Golly Gee Carla, the moderates are still there, they're just democrats now (what they were all along).

Just in the last several years, we've seen Colin Powell endorse Obama, Richard Lugar endorse Michelle Nunn, John Warner endorse Mark Warner, moderate republicans in Kansas have become democrats, and moderate republicans have endorsed democrats for governor, senator and secretary of state, Arlen Specter became a democrat, Charlie Crist became a democrat, Lincoln Chafee became a democrat, John Huntsman is planning on running an independent campaign (probably to thwart conservatives), Lisa Murkowski ran an independent campaign to thwart a conservative, Dede Scozzafava endorsed the democrat to thwart a conservative, and on and on.

Moderate voices are being heard. WE just are not voting for them anymore...because they're democrats. And they can't get elected without US.

Carla, how much did the DNC pay you to dish out this malarkey?

Meanwhile, PSTFU.

Hopefully they're not dead but hibernating like polar bears

Polar bears don't hibernate and we have far more moderate Republicans than we need.

Do you suppose that Carla thinks John Boehner and the rest of the GOPe are far right conservatives?

If so, what does she think we are?

No interest at all in what happened to democrats like Hubert Humphrey, San Nunn & Daniel Patrick Moynihan?

That makes the writer a liberal, not a "moderate".

Moderates are the road-kill of politics. They don’t have core principles and because of that they are like squirrels on a road running back and forth trying to decide at the last instance which way to go before that big car hits them.

People who write articles or letters to the editor like this are just plain stupid. No question. I don’t see any position that any “conservative” is taking that wasn’t a mainstream position 20 years ago. Its just that politics has moved so far to the Left and wishy-washy dopes like Powell and Lugar and McCain have gone along with it. 20 or 30 years ago, no one would have voted for gay marriage, or open borders or $1 trillion deficits. No one.

Well, once you get a president in office that does everything you ever wanted, there’s really no need to speak up.

Republicans are like the Democrats of 1970.

Democrats are like the Weather Underground of 1970.

Conservatives haven't changed their positions on the major issues - homosexuality, marriage, fiscal prudence, strong military, representative government, love of our country. We haven't moved right on anything.

Liberals, however, have moved steadily leftward in these positions, taking the so-called Moderates with them.

Moderates don't want Communism, but massive socialism is just fine. Moderates don't openly denigrate our country, but smile quietly when Liberals do. Moderates think half enough military will do. Moderates think some perversion is OK. Moderates think marriage is just a tax deduction. Moderates think more government is not necessarily a bad thing.

Moderates are just lite-Democrats, or what Democrats were 50 years ago.

It is depressing being a member of a vanishing breed but that is what I am.

So she's proud to proclaim on a public forum that she's a moderate Republican?

"Hey, everyone, look at me! I have absolutely NO principles nor guiding tenets! I'm spineless as an octopus and my vote is determined by which way the wind blows! Aren't I wise? Yay for me!"

Pure shameless idiocy, but these people can't be shamed.

A moderate appeals to the middle of the electroate; conservatives are to the far right these days, while the RNC candidates are more what we knew as middle-left these days. The moderates if viewed only within the republican party or conservative right is of itself something right of middle. It is therefore, someone right of middle within the republican/conservative side of the isle of whom you desire to spring forth. I would tell those who've dropped out (like myself) that we should at least vote for the right and without campaign contributions to the RNC membership.

The choices today are Obama/Hillary cloned leftists/communists and those left-of-middle republicans and a few conservatives. Vote for today only and you get the Democrats; vote for the future of a solvent country then go to the right. But if you are looking for those moderate republicans, they will never make it past the heavily financed RNC candidates...!
