Its white. Its square. And at 1-by-1 inch in diameter, it is the perfect accoutrement to any entrepreneurs smartphone.
With its quick swipe capability and ultimate portability, the high-tech Square Reader credit-card processor has become an invaluable tool in todays economy.
How high-tech credit card vendors and customers get their Second Amendment rights infringed.
Taxi drivers use itas do trade-show vendors, online retailers and home contractors.
It is, as the companys slogan says, a small credit card reader that offers big possibilities. But some of those big possibilities are apparently being foreclosed by the Obama administration.
Last summer, around the same time the U.S. Department of Justices Operation Choke Point began pressuring banks to drop customers who buy or sell firearms, tobacco and other goods considered not acceptable by the Obama administration, Square quietly changed its terms of agreement.

Is this the same company as Square Trade, which wants to give extended warrantees if you buy something on eBay?
No. It’s a little device which makes it easy for anyone to accept credit card payments by attaching it to a cellphone.
i don’t think so, but i could be wrong. two different websites and i did not see any links from one to the other
Mike
Absolutely outrageous infringement of my rights. So, I will not use the Square device or accept any client who does. I will boycott it and tell all my clients to avoid it.
I know it’s a device, what I was asking was if it is from the same company Square Trade.
Thanks, that answers my question.
This is use of legalese weasel words just like they did to pass the CT gun laws. The Constitution says keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon. The Constitution says nothing about prevention of the acquisition firearms. (I hear the weasels shrieking this in CT)
The Obama admin took the exact opposite approach with Pot Shops in Colorado.....
Banking laws were bent to allow banks to work with these shops...
BS. If Square said it could not be used to purchase Korans, the judiciary would clearly find them in violation of the Bill of Rights. This will be litigated quickly because gun shop owners are clearly harmed.
Completely illegal.
Anything in regards heading for the Supreme Court?
The bastard put me out of a very good job with his unconstitutional, illegal, and unauthorized “choke point”.
so sorry for your job loss! as this admin has hurt plenty of average law abiding US citizens and put lots of us in binds we may never recover from including myself! to say the least, some MAJOR NEW LEADERSHIP can’t get here fast enough! and if/when it does, hopefully it will turn the tides in a positive direction in a real damn hurry!
Mike
Imagine if Square said it will not process transactions for homosexual weddings.
I have at least 2 family members that had to take early retirement because of the policies of this admin.
One dmn good zero-[real]emissions coal plant engineer,
and a family practice doctor.
Jennifer, please show us how calculate the diameter of a square? Or is two diameters, both at 1 inch.
How to tell a liberal wrote an article. [facepalm]
Maybe 1” dia x 1” long.
What a doofette.
The way I see it, they're not really a party to the sale transaction, so they're overstepping their bounds when they try to make a rule like this. Target has a right to tell you that you can't go armed into their store, and you have a right not to shop there. These guys are trying to regulate what goes on that doesn't affect them in any way, so my thinking would be to just ignore them and pretend they're aware of what is and is not their business.
square ALREADY had problems making money.
They just keep digging their way to insolvency.
