Cops shot him dead within second of showing up.
Ping
The guy was a nutjob and got what he deserved.
Did they even say “drop the weapon?”
After reviewing the video and listening to the 911 call, the idiot 911 caller was giving incorrect information which have made the responding cops a little too quick on the trigger.
Wow! It’s like the Walmart employee is some kind of sociopath trying to get this guy shot! The cops get equal blame here, no fact finding or verification, just go in and shoot him dead.
Don’t care if the thug was or not doing any of that....you go in a ‘public’ area, no matter where it is, ‘swinging a gun around’ and you get exactly what he got.... End of story.
Have the Dept Of Just Us checkout the ARDs and white men. E.g.,
"In 2010, Las Vegas Metro Police officers shot and killed Erik Scott as he walked out of a suburban Costco store. . . . Erik Scott was a West Point graduate with an MBA from Duke University who enjoyed body building and was a pharmaceutical sales rep."
The FBI stats show that whites are more likely to die while being arrested and IMO there is no doubt that some of those deaths were the intention of the police. I believe that the police were cleared in this case, as IIRC Mr. Scott had a concealed carry and simply did not respond appropriately to the police orders.
It is not a racial issue except for the Obama-Holder Dept. of Just Us, the Race-Grievance Industry, and their like.
What about the larger number of whites and Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD)? Why is that okay with Obama, the race-grievance industry, and the media? We never see coverage of questionable ARDs involving whites that's anything close to Ferguson.
Arrest-Related Deaths, 2003-2009 - Statistical Tables
"From 2003 through 2009, a total of 4,813 deaths were reported to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) program."
Of these, about 6 in 10 deaths (2,931) were classified as homicide by law enforcement personnel, and 4 in 10 (1,882) were attributed to other manners of death.

To me this shows that it is not a racial thing. It happens to all races. These figures however do not show those thought "murdered" by police. I have not yet located data for recent years. Why can't I find data for recent years? I do not know.. maybe the Dept of Just Us and Race-Grievance Industry don't want it known that whites are the most likely to die being arrested.
The poor kid never saw it coming, he went to a quiet corner of the store to stand in one spot and play with the toy gun alone.
If I was that caller, I would feel very bad about this, and as the cop, I wouldn’t be feeling too good about it either.
Me and millions and millions, and millions of us have handled toy guns in stores for generations, and generations, I doubt that many of us have been gunned down for it.
What in the world?! The they shot him without any provocation. Talk about crazy overreaction.
The caller’s viewpoint was so restricted. The victim was not threatening anyone at any point. He was simply chatting on the phone and swinging a toy gun distractedly.
His behavior does seem bizarre from the view of the security cameras, but it is also pretty clear that the guy was not even thinking of pointing the “rifle” at anything or anyone. There was a mom and kids right down the aisle, and they did not seem afraid at all.
Of course, none of this was clear, but damn, the cops just killed him in cold blood. Couldn’t have even made a basic assessment before they shot.
The caller had a vivid imagination, to say the least.
It was an erroneous statement, not a malicious lie. There were children in the area, and the caller did believe the gun was real.
He also claimed that Crawford was loading the gun.
It did look like he could have been loading it at one point. Plus, I haven't seen any video of what Crawford was doing before he got to the pet food aisle.
The problem was not that the cop was white and the victim black. It is that cops shoot first now then ask what it is all about.
There’s a lot of blame to go around. The suspect was stupid, the 911 caller/busybody wasn’t helping, and the cop sure did shoot fast. But those situations play out in a hurry, and it did look like a real “assault rifle,” the kind you wouldn’t want the guy to bring to bear on you.
I personally would have tried something a little calmer, but everyone’s expecting an “active shooter” so there’s not going to be a lot of allowance made for your average otherwise-innocent idiot.
First, in my opinion the 911 caller clearly lead the Police to think this was much more dangerous than it appeared. It appeared the suspect made a move towards the Police just before he was shot, but without seeing the vantage point of the shooting officer who knows. Maybe he thought there was a kid down one of the aisles and wanted to make sure he did not open fire. While some people are claiming it is an open carry state; you still don’t go around waving a gun or rifle in the air. It turns out to be a BB gun, but the Police did not know and they are not going to take a chance.
The incident at a Las Vegas Costco (reply #20) had a similar thing happen that led to the tragedy. Mr Scott was shopping and "At some point he bent over and his shirt rode up, exposing the pistol he had concealed at the small of his back. A Costco employee saw the holstered sidearm and told Scott he was not allowed to have the weapon in the store. Scott replied that he had a permit and the right to carry his weapon. He then went back to shopping. The employee called over a manager, who informed a 20-something security guard, who made a 911 call to police . . . ."
A man with a gun, a 9-1-1 call, a crowd of people, officers responding . . . .
The man shot dead by the police was white and of no concern to the Obama-Holder Dept of Just Us and the media -- at least not to the extent that it would be it they could have made a racial issue of the death.
Man, I can almost feel this Ronald Ritchie thinking he’s just a Big Shot, reporting some evil man who’s thoughtlessly talking with his hands while talking on a cell phone. Yes, he had an (air)rifle. He died for that horrible crime.
I am totally against the black thug culture, but for God’s sake, the man was dumb, not criminal. How does that moron Ronald Ritchie even sleep at night, after lying like that, getting a man KILLED over his lies????????
I watched.
The first responding officer was outside the training protocols for the situation that existed at the time he entered the situation. He heard no shots....no information any had been fired. He approached and responded at maximum threat level...Active Shooter. There’s a problem. But it’s not a race issue. It’s a training and judgement issue. He owns this cluster imho.
If the 911 caller's audio is synched up with the video then he outright lied and said the Guy with the gun pointed it at kids.
Then the cops show up the door opes and they shoot him.
Trigger happy cops and a lying 911 caller and some idiot who wasn't even aware other people were around him.
Now the cops are going to call this a righteous shoot. So I have a test. Would a C&C shooter in the same exact incident have the shooting declared a righteous shoot by the cops?
We all know the C&C shooter would have been arrested and charged with murder. Because the tape clearly shows he never pointed it directly at anyone.
Victims of circumstance, all around.
I wish these clowns would off themselves in a garage by themselves.
