What about a mercenary army; elite fighters who would be well paid, well trained to defeat terrorists all over the world. Here's how it would work the fighters would be recruited by America and trained in the USA by our Special Forces. U.S. Army rules of engagement would be followed, strict discipline formed by the Geneva Convention. America would be in charge of selecting who makes the cut and how they are deployed with an eye on a 25,000-person force.
American and NATO officers would lead the mercenary army and the USA would also provide logistical support basing the first trained soldiers in Kurdistan. The force would be called the anti-terror army and the cost paid by the coalition that President Obama is trying to put together and these countries that won intelligence and protection from the USA and NATO would have to chip in.

Are we now saying that ISIS=Al Qaeda?
The nations at the UN are run by corrupt dictators and Islamic states. There are 57 Islamic States as it is. There is NO WAY the UN would send troops against a force that a plurality supports.
Why from orbit? Why so theatrical? Don’t we have nuclear tipped cruise missiles?
And the target in mind is defenseless.
O’Reilly is right, the logic of his suggestion is sound. We cannot afford to ignore ISIS and militant Islam and do nothing, nor can we afford to be the Policeman of the World.
He has offered a suggestion that addresses this dilemma and it would be a sign of maturity if FReepers could discuss and debate the topic instead of constantly engaging in childish attacks on the messenger. Let’s just pretend the idea came from Ted Cruz, and then discuss the merit of the idea.
The UN is the enemy of the West.
But, Mr. Assad has long held the belief that they are the same.
What if the Democrats pay the mercenaries to kill us? I don’t trust Democrats when they talk about gun control because once they got rid of the private weapons, they’d be forcing us to do stuff at gunpoint. Give them mercenaries? Nope. Mercs kill for money. Those Democrats have lots of money.
Do you know whose fault it is that we have ISIS and all these other muzzie terror groups roaming around?
The West.
We should have told Islam never to leave their muzzie sh*tholes and stay there until the end of the world.
But we insisted having this cancer live among us.
Suicide on the grandest scale.
O’Reilly is full of crap.
Doesn’t heed his own advise: “No bloviating here!”
Should read as “No Bovine Discharges here!”
You can organize mercenaries, you pay mercenaries, you can train them to the Nth degree; what happens the first time you try to deploy them and the host country says, “Not letting ‘em in here!” That’s where the scheme falls apart.
Deus Vult
Seriously, what O'Reilly is advocating is a Foreign Legion (more like the old Spanish model than the French one).
I agree with your statement on ALL issues!
On this one, my concern is the Democratic Party, otherwise known to thinking people as the Marxist Left.
Just like we see currently in the US Army, they (Marxist democrats) slither their little agents in and under and around some law or another and find a way to author ROE’s..........which of course stands for Rules of Engagement.
ROE’s have hamstrung our guys on the front lines and caused untold deaths and maimings and “force” effectiveness reduction!
So, US Army officers simply cannot lead squat if they are handcuffed by these stupid ROE’s............. period! Better to let a country with some brains (requires no democrats) “lead” the force. Don’t ask me what country that would be? All western militaries seemingly have been destroyed by their leftists. Europeans have almost zero forces anymore.
What might be a better idea is simply sign a “Contract” with the French Foreign Legion with an initial contract term of 5 years. If they do well, renew it for 5 years. Oreily’s idea about paying them well is good. And, they only have about 7,000 fighters but have an amazing historical record at fighting in general.
But, as long as Democrats AND gutless, despicable, self gratifying Republicans (Boehner) are in power, we effectively can’t run a “lethal” ground Army!
This is to say nothing about queers in the ranks, transgenders in the ranks, rings in noses, rainbow colored hair, women in foxholes, minority and gender based promotions, promotion based upon performance outlawed, special toilet regulations for trannys, special toilet facilities for women, women officers with no combat experience commanding men in combat, millions of man hours of litigation caused by sex offender allegations on all the foregoing and I could just go on and on endlessly!
Bottom line is that we don’t have an Army any more. We have an expensive MESS!
Only in special forces, Seal teams and the Marine Corp do we see lingering and effective organization and leadership. This, I think, is largely because special forces physical requirements keep out the trash and the otherwise unqualified.
The Marine Corp, to it’s credit, has resisted the political left to some degree over recent decades. Separate boot camps is one example. Performance promotions is another.
The idea would still be dumb if Ted Cruz proposed it. But I suspect that Ted Cruz did not learn his history from comic books, as O’Reilly seems to have. This has been tried recently and was a complete failure. We trained a special force of Mexican soldiers to battle the Drug Cartels. They went back to Mexico with their training and formed their own cartel called Los Zetas, you might have heard of them.
My post was a reference to the first “Alien” movie.
Ripley: I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Hudson: F*%k?n’ A!
Heh.
0bama set up a training camp, in Jordan, to train milita to overthrow Assad.
