Define US interest? I bet Syrian military is primarily targeted so the ISIS would have an upper hand. It worked in Libya and look how wonderful it is these days.

The vital interest for all attacking parties is oil.
Isis has hijacked oil and is selling on the black market.
The HQ of Isis is located in an area of Syria that is not
not controlled by Asshat (Assad). I believe the training
of Isissy fighters occurs here.

I have not decided where I come down on this. Just trying
to answer your question best I can so don’t shoot the

As a matter of fact, the existence of ISIS is a trhreat to our security and it is in fact in our national interest to vanquish the threat.
