Dwyane

Since I don't watch TeeVee, I've never actually heard anybody pronounce this.

Did his parents misspell "Dwayne", or do they mispronounce "Dwyane", or do they pronunce it "Dwy-ane" like it's written, or what?

Micharl Jordan made millions shilling shoes. Dwyane Wade shills a luxury watch. If I had the choice I’d have to shill an item that everyone needs and can buy. A watch. Not so much.

My personal feeling on the watch. I do own a very nice watch, a luxury name. It is clean, simple, and classy. This Hublot looks ridiculous, just like the MJ shoes.

Given the link between hip-hop and basketball I imagine it will be ‘rapped’ about and will become the new status symbol for rappers.

I have never been a fan of commemorative wristwatches of any sort.
A simple three-hand watch with minimal decoration looks nice.
Unsure why Swiss manufacturers have embraced this trend so much recently.

Can someone explain why digital watches aren’t more popular? I much prefer them over analog.

Different strokes for different folks, of course.
My digital watches are used for cycling, running, and skiing.
My mechanical watches are FAR nicer and used for everything else.

Surprised the gnomes did not index the screw heads?

They look out of place.

Announcer: Someday, everyone will own a watch like this. Now, it is available only for the privileged few. The Mogasaki Corproration of Tokyo is honored to announce... Kromega III. [ lightning strikes ] A watch so complex, it takes two people to make it work. One hand wears the watch. The other hand presses the buttons that activate the 100% solid state multi-function digital quartz crystal micro-computer unit. And now, you're ready for the third hand to trigger the light-luminating dial to give you an alphanumeric readout accurate to within 9 a year. It's that simple.

KROMEGA III. Command-crafted in impact-resistant crushed chrome. It's no wonder that professional skiiers prefer Kromega III over any ordinary timepiece.

Woman's Voice: And I love Lady Kromega III. The sleek, space-age styling compliments any outfit. [ Woman's other hand presses one of the buttons ] And the clearly displayed perpetual calendar helps me to remember my many appointments. Would you mind? [ other person brings in a spare hand to operate the Lady Kromega III ] Thank you. Announcer: Kromega III. It's like asking a stranger for the time.

They are a great company.

They build custom scientific instrumentation, too.

From the Unauthorized Rules on How to Dress at Goldman Sachs:

“Forget all about Hublot. It’s a great way to tell people that you’re an idiot who has more money than taste. Hublot was a second-rate brand with third-rate craftsmanship until about 15 years ago when they arbitrarily doubled the price and started paying celebrities and sport figures to wear them. It’s been a marketers wet dream.

#1: Hublot put the ‘whore’ in ‘horology’”

Being a designer myself, a few things jump right out about that watch.

First, they created an “H” on the face of all those rose gold screws. Interesting touch, maybe a little overkill but it does say that a lot of effort went into the design of this.

But, they’re screwed in at random. Take your pick, they’re every which way. Totally blew the impression they’re trying to make. Thoughtless.

If I was in a position to blow $18K or more on a watch, it would not be this. It would be something that will hold value, that has been around for a while, maybe even a vintage watch. Piaget, Patek-Philippe, Rolex, etc.

For 20 Grand, I’d expect the screws to be aligned.
