Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS.
Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner said in her first press interview since the scandal broke 16 months ago. “I’m proud of my career and the job I did for this country.”
Lerner, who sat down with POLITICO in an exclusive two-hour session, has been painted in one dimension: as a powerful bureaucrat scheming with the Obama administration to cripple right-leaning nonprofits. Interviews with about 20 of her colleagues, friends and critics and a survey of emails and other IRS documents, however, reveal a much more complicated figure than the caricature she’s become in the public eye.
The portrait that emerges shows Lerner is, indeed, fierce, unapologetic and perhaps even tone-deaf when she says things that show her Democratic leanings. She had a quick temper and may have intimidated co-workers who could have helped her out of this mess. It’s easy to see how Republicans have seized on the image of a devilish figure cracking down on conservative nonprofits.
“We followed the trail where it leads, and we saw it lead to Lois Lerner,” House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said at a hearing Thursday. “She refers with disdain to conservatives; she’s an active liberal; and it’s clear her actions were set out to be detrimental to conservatives.”

I doubt she has spent one dime of her own money for lawyers, and didn’t she “retire” or have a huge pension available? Didn’t she likely get bribes from DNC or someone in DOJ? I bet she’s not hurting for money.
Let’s be clear. Lerner is a treasonous felon. She was a key player in turning the most teared government enforcement agency against US citizens because of our political beliefs. Biased is beyond understatement. She sshould be water boarded til she sings like a canary, then jailed for life.

This morning on Morning Joe they said she ‘retired’ with a $100K per year pension.
The “hard drive jive” was simply food for the low-information voters to swallow and cause them to pay no more attention to this issue.
Anyone with a modicum of sense knows emails aren’t stored locally. In addition, it seems her Blackberry is gone as well. Lerner’s an attorney, and a smart one. She knows not to put anything damaging or illegal in official emails. That’s why her computer(s) are gone. For, on them, one will find evidence of the off-record Yahoo/gmail/hotmail account(s)....[not the actual emails] she’s been using to communicate with her compadres under the official radar (ala ex-EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson). Once those email addresses are discovered, a simple subpoena to Microsoft (hotmail), Google (gmail) and/or Yahoo will provide all the info that’s needed to lock her up.

I’ve refrained from posting this before, but since Ms. Lerner is now pleading her case publicly, I’ll give it a shot.
The daughter of someone I know has spent time in Lerner’s home in recent months—the same, multi-million dollar Maryland estate you’ve seen on-line. The daughter attends school with Lerner’s youngest child. From what I’ve been told, Ms. Lerner lives like a queen; she goes to the gym and spa almost daily and acts like she doesn’t have a care in the world.
Interestingly, the daughter of my acquaintance was unaware of Lerner and her problems until she returned home and spoke with her own family. Their “back brief” on Lerner left her even more surprised. “You’d think someone with all that hanging over their head would be a little depressed, or upset,” she said.
And why should she be? She’s living on a $110,000 yearly pension from her days as a federal bureaucrat; her husband is a partner at one of the biggest law firms in D.C. and the federal investigation into her activities is in the hands of Eric Holder’s justice department.
A few of us know the place Lerner frequents for her facials, manicures and pedicures. I’m about this close to sharing the info with a few journalists who might actually track her down and pose some real questions.
Queen Lois SHOULD be behind bars, but the odds of her seeing the inside of a federal prison cell are decidedly low.

I knew someone who claimed that she was called a “DJ” when she was a small child. She ran home crying to her mother and showing her hands. “Why did they call me that, Mama? I’m not dirty.” I believed her because she was in her eighties when she told me this story and she lived in a German immigrant community when it happened.
I don’t believe LL suffered the same treatment in the USA at any time since the 1940s — certainly not in an employee situation.
