"the Republican Party here has turned several shades redder."
The GOP is too RED now.

There is too much liberal funkiness going on in Texas to call it the epicenter of the Conservative movement for my taste. Though it beats the hell out of California.

They appear to be equating republican with conservative, and moreover, using the Bushes.
Wow.
Well, it’s the Post. What do they know about it.
From what I can tell there is somewhat of a Mexican colonization going on in Texas. Mexicans and Mexican Americans are pushing through all areas of culture, language, borders, academia, religious institutions, and elementary and secondary schools.
Whoever wrote this article is even more clueless than the locals who are in deep and silly denial.
Just a thought.
Any 15 to 25 year old knows they can’t get into school very easily nor get a scholarship without being a Mexican of some sort.
Just for instance

It takes a lot of Balz to sell young Master George P., when even JEB can’t get any dam traction.
But it sure is nice of the WashPost to urk him up, like a fish or chicken bone stuck in their gullet.

Even TX is slow. They have the best situation to be independent even without sucession and Perry is nutered. He won’t be a good president.
TX, AX, NM and others should just enforce the laws on the books and the feds be dammned. I was dissapointed when Gov. Brewer in AZ basically backed down when the feds “sued”.
Perry said he’d send the Texas guard to the border and it took what? 45 days? And then they can’t do anything? Why? Tell the feds to shove it. If they want a confrontation get the cameras and give them one!!!

It’s good to see that Texas is making up for LBJ, who was unquestionably tied for worst President ever.

Native Texan here. This article makes me ill. Big difference in Republican and Conservative, and Texas (even as the Republic) is a CONSERVATIVE state, regardless of party. Get it? Republican, Democrat...Texas votes Conservative.
Now what is Florida's Republican son George P. doing here? GO AWAY! We let it slide with Bush from Maine. George W. at least worked here, at several jobs, and married a local, Conservative girl. But this transplant-where-they'll-vote-for-your-sorry-Republican-@ss-BS is getting a little old. More Bush Texan political wannabes? Good grief. And the sad thing is he'll be the only option. The REPUBLICANS in Texas will see he's the candidate. Comments? I'm pissed.

George P. Bush hasn’t run for Governor yet. It was George W. Bush who was elected Governor in 1994.

I damn near passed this one up since it was from the Washington comPost and written by Dan Balz, figuring it to be just another hit piece from a known hit & run journalist.
But after reading Balz’s charmin piece, I found it to be very informative. I learned that I could vote for damn near every Republican running in Texas. Unlike here in AZ.
I wonder if the lovely and deadly Mrs Tupelo is game for another move.

Texas needs to finally make good on their century old threat to secede.
It would instantly be the wealthiest and most free nation on earth.

A Bush represents a rightward turn??? I don’t know this younger Bush but there was NOTHING conservative about G HW Bush, Jeb Bush, and certainly not GW Bush. And no more dynasties.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
When they say conservative they subtly mean racist red neck on lib language.
Frankly I am sick of the hypocrisy of these rags and liberals.
True to form, the prejudiced liberal has to either be completely racist or display self hate in order to deal with foreigners or people of color. But when it comes to call Texas epicenter of conservatism, they display both self hate (antiAmerican) and racism in their war against men and women of all colors who bear arms.

I wouldn’t consider Perry presidential material. He stepped in it again when he defended his Texas Dream Act (the one that essentially gives Illegals a free ride at our universities).
He seems to take one step forward (talking about securing the border) and then two steps back (good ole Rick on Amnesty).

This would have been a fitting headline, maybe 20 years ago.
And George P. Bush is a RINO like the rest of the family, a RINO (or a liberal democrat for that matter) talking conservative to get elected is also not a new phenomenon.
Sounds like Mr. Balz had a deadline for a column, so he wrote this shite.

It seems like the candidates that are excreted by the left in TX are extemely noxious, repulsive, and just downright icky examples of humanity. An example is Castro, mayor of San Antonio. His mom said she whould like to see The Alamo torn down, because it is a symbol of white oppression.
IMO, she should be imprisoned for that comment alone, but there are more. Her son is a racist leftish doosh also.
