CANADENSIS, Pa. Nine days after a gunman opened fire in a deadly ambush at a state police barracks, authorities have had no contact with the suspect they describe as a self-taught survivalist despite an intensive search that shut down the heavily wooded community where he lived with his parents.
Though a shelter-in-place order had been lifted in the Pocono Mountains community where police have focused their search, they continued to urge residents to be vigilant Sunday as the manhunt continues for Eric Frein.
Frein's father, retired Army Maj. E. Michael Frein, told police that he had taught his son to shoot. He "doesn't miss," the father told state police during a search of the family home, when he also disclosed that an AK-47 and a .308 rifle with a scope were missing. A copy of the book, "Sniper Training and Employment," was found in his bedroom.

Unfortunately, this Frein person will kill again. Probably a LEO, or some kind of state official.

It took the FBI 5 years to catch Eric Rudolph. And they got lucky.
This person is not a “survivalist” by any definition I have seen.

Survival experts weigh in on Frein
Hi. Hope you are well.
Took the FBI 2 decades to find Whitey Bulger, and he was at one time their informant!

thanks
Well played.
O.J. still hasn’t found the real killer.
To the reporter, a survivalist is probably any person who can go 100' into the woods and not start screaming MOMMY!!!
lol
He meant to kill the trooper that he wounded, and he killed the one he didn't mean to hit.
He misses.
More of a business man drumming up business than an expert, from his comments.
The area they have pounded for 3 days is within a mile of his parent’s house.
They should also be using cadaver dogs during this search. He may have off’ed himself, having grown frustrated that they didn’t still couldn’t find him, thus producing the suicide by cop scenario he had expected.
That’s what I’ve been saying; cadaver dogs....or keep an eye open for circling buzzards. If he offed himself the buzzards will eventually show up. OTOH....he could be several states away by now, even on foot, while the LEOs keep tripping over each other within a mile of his parents’ home. Seems to me he’d be headed south.
Has no one considered that he was smart?
Follow along here for a second...
You’re planning on killing a cop at a barracks. You know that eventually they’re going to figure out who you are and consequently your vehicle will become radioactive, so get ahead of it. You dump the vehicle in a manner that appears as if you accidentally got it stuck. Just to be sure, leave enough clues, like a SSN or spent cartridges.
You then hop into your getaway vehicle(or maybe a motorcycle) and go in the opposite direction knowing the cops are going to focus on the wrong spot.
Once he’s clear of PA, the heat goes down significantly.
The other alternative would be that he suicides in an old mine or something and they’ll never find him.
He is close though, an unidentified source is sure the killer is in the same prison, may even be O.J.'s best friend, closest confidant, right in the same cell.
I agree to some extent with your assessment, but I think in some circles he might be considered a hero and is being sheltered well out of the area.
On December 1 his partially decomposed corpse will be found by hunters on the opening day of rifle deer season.
