Barack Obama will not be pledging any cash to a near-empty fund for poor countries at a United Nations summit on climate change next week, the UN special climate change envoy said on Friday.
The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, has challenged the 125 world leaders attending the 23 September summit to make “bold pledges” to the fund, intended to help poor countries cope with climate change.
The UN has been pressing rich countries to come up with pledges of between $10bn and $15bn.
“We are putting a lot of pressure for them to do it at the summit on the 23rd,” the UN envoy and former Irish president, Mary Robinson, told the Guardian on the sidelines of a US Agency for International Development meeting. But she added: “I know the United States is not going to commit because I’ve asked.”

I see Al Gore is one of the main lefty dignitaries leading the Climate March on New York to coincide with this meeting. It’s Christmas time for Al Gore and his enormous bank account.
I guess “Barack Obama” has been knocked back by the fact that the Democrat Party is so freaked out that even they don’t want to be part of his program.
Actually, this is a fabulous idea and I wish I had thought of it sooner.
I’m going to set up a fund through Paypal. I will seek donations to it from any and all caring individuals; the money will be used to help me cope with Global Climate Change.

I don’t know why this makes me think of something else. If you are rally old like me, you’ll remember the old National Lampoon ad showing a gun to the head of a pet doggie. The ad demands that you subscribe “or the dog gets it”.
