A homeowner sporting a Game of Thrones T-Shirt and brandished with a medieval sword says that he could have taken the life of an intruder who entered his home but that he is a Christian and doesn't believe in killing.
Thomas McGowan, 25, broke into the Wichita Falls, Texas home of Jimmy Morgan Jr. at midnight on Tuesday but retreated with terror leaving splatters of blood on the wall after Morgan Jr. whipped out a medieval sword and told him to get lost.
McGowan broke into Morgan Jr.'s home to hide from police after crashing his car during a police chase.

Morgan Jr. had the intruder cornered the other night and easily could have killed him but he says he is a religious and moral man who doesn't believe in taking someone's life.
'I am a Christian man and I don't want to take life, however I want to make sure that he understands that his life was mine to take. I let him have it.'

The navy cutlass was designed for tight spaces aboard ship. Just big enough, heavy in the blade but nimble enough for hallways and other indoor places. Like noted above a very good advantage of a blade over a gun indoors is that there's no danger of over penetration into other rooms. Except for the mess.

According to some friends on Facebook, he is a pretty well respected SCA member who is a ranked heavy fighter in sword, shield and heavy armor. The guy who broke in is lucky to be alive
You bet. Though many preferred a pike or boarding axe in the melee.
You may note that very few boarders probably chose a longsword.
It's fantastic. Give it a try and it will hook you.
The sound of a 12 Ga. pump shotgun being racked has a very chilling effect as well.
someone better explain to him you can be christian and kill someone in self-defense. not that you WANT to or take pleasure in killing, but that if it happens in self-defense, it’s a result of their attack, not an end goal of yours.
Luke 22: 36
36: And He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.
Bible says you can’t “murder.” No where does it say you can’t kill in your own defense.
I was thinking the same thing, especially in a small space. A shotgun is my personal choice for home protection but it should have a short barrel for use in a hallway or tight space.
I think I would rather carry a kukri than any other bladed weapon when facing an intruder. They are wicked looking things. It will make the other guy think at least three times before closing with you.

In my opinion, the two best weapons for a narrow hallway are a short barreled shotgun (#8 or #9 bird shot) backed up with either a hatchet or a Kukri (Gurkha knife)
