Seconds before he plowed his $4,000 bike into Connecticut mom in Central Park, leaving her brain dead, speed-demon racing cyclist Jason Marshall zoomed down a pedestrian lane and crossed over into the vehicle lane of the parks West Drive even though neither is legal for cycling, The Post has learned.
Law-enforcement sources say that moments before Thursday afternoons accident, Marshall was barreling downhill in the lane restricted to pedestrians and child bicyclists.

Sure he will. But I don't think it will be because of skin color. It will because he's a "green" bicyclist. He doesn't contribute to global warming, etc. The metrosexual urban elites love that sort of thing.
If he had been a working guy driving a truck, that would be different.
Made of Titanium?
When it comes to competitive cycling, you can easily spend twice that on just the frame alone.
But the victim is a Liberal (husband works for CBS). Will be interesting to see what happens.
It’ll certainly help him. Probably kept the police from “harassing” him over his reckless operation. Otherwise we’d have seen the headline read- “Cops harass black man for riding bike in park.”
Don't know if you've ever been to Central Park but apart from several streets that cut across it east/west (IIRC 72nd Street is one) and s few smaller roads the park is pretty much exclusively for pedestrians. When you enter from Columbus Circle there are signs that say "no cyclists" for the walkways. But some people just don't care.
New Yawk,yah know!
Why do they call it “tragic” when it’s criminal?
You haven't guessed? Lawsuit:Estate Of "X" v City of New York.
There are wheel sets that sell for more than that.
The most dangerous animals on the Campion Trail in Irving are male cyclists. It really bothers them if they have to slow down for young kids learning how to ride a bike, and God forbid if a family takes up too much of the 12 foot wide path.
central park New York.....enough said
reason #567098 why I would never visit such a pathetic place
Mike
I bet the riots in NYC were horrible afterwards.
Wait...
Because they are criminals to. Accessories after the fact.
Why hasn’t this a$$hat been arrested for manslaughter?
Last I checked, operating a vehicle - any vehicle - in a reckless manner that results in the death of another person is a crime.
Oh, that’s right.
Those charges are reserved for white people.
I agree. I ride and I love to ride but I obey the same laws as required by vehicles. Even though my bike is capable of pretty high speeds, I don’t ride fast. I also run front and rear lights. Most cyclists are good and obey the laws but there is a group that feels like they are entitled and everybody else is wrong. It doesn’t matter what happens, they feel the cyclists is always in the right and the pedestrian or motorist is always wrong. I’m lucky because I’m in a rural area and motorists are always respectful to me and I am to them. I don’t need to mention, I guess, that most of the jerk cyclists I refer to are liberals living in large liberal cities.
Leftist Urban versus leftist Suburban. In NYC my money is on the Urban.
This is why I stopped using the Burke Gillman trail in Seattle. It has a 15 mph speed limit and radar cops on motorcycles.
And carrying a gun is too bulky.
NYC another example how politicians can screw the city.
Traffic lanes are all messed up. There is bike lane, which bikers ignore which way. There is left turn/park lane with stupid vegetation planted. There is bus lane.
That leaves 3 lanes on typical avenue, of which one is used trying to get into left turn/park lane, two lanes are left for motorists to fight for use, while watching for wild bikers.
Oh, and lotsa space is taken by blue Citibike parking lots.
But it is all “compensated” by using lower case letters of million dollar campaign to replace street signs.
Vote for more commie prostitutians like DeBlasio and Bloooomberggg.
Welcome to NY state of nevermind!
Bicycling on city streets is dangerous. I’ve been hit four times. Never went down but sure scratched me up some nice cars.
But if you want to do what he did, you really can’t do it in places like that. It’s one of the many reasons I moved to a rural area.
You need to slide slightly into one as he passes you.
Seriously.
Knock him off his bike, spectacularly. If he is on the sidewalk where there is a bike lane nearby, you are completely in the right. It’s easy to do without getting hurt.
I say this as an avid bicyclist that commuted for over a decade in the Seattle area from multiple homes. If they are not breaking the law, leave them be. But if they are creating a dangerous situation, well, there’s nothing like tough love to help them get the message.
I read some newspaper account that had comments afterwards and someone wrote in that they’d had close calls with this rider before.
The only time I ever came close to losing my life in NYC was from a messenger on a bike zippng in and out of traffic at top speed on Lexington Avenue.
