Berlin. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in a couple of days he might commission the Russian troops not only in Ukraine but also in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Romania, Ukrainian news edition Liga reported, citing a publication of German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
According to the newspaper, Putin made this statement during a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko, who on the other hand, reported his words to European Commission (EC) President Jose Manuel Barroso.
“If I want, the Russian troops may enter not only in Kiev but also in Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw and Bucharest,” the German newspaper cited Putin’s words.
According to the newspaper, the Russian President advised Poroshenko “not to count on the EU too much” because if he wished, he could “influence and block the decisions made in the EU”.

I wonder if Putin’s files contain the name “Reggie.”

Reggie and many other male names, for sure.

I always heard, but maybe you could shed some light on it. But what I heard in the past, is that in instances where Russian soldiers themselves, did not feel they were justified in invading other countries, traditionally did very poorly on the battlefield. Finnland in World War 2 being a classic example of it. Thoughts from former Army guys? :-)

USAF, retired.

Zer0 will never support NATO and the rest of the NATO countries have defunded their military to cover entitlement programs. Putin could yell and there would be countries surrendering. Zer0 sure does have more flexibility after the last election.

Care to expand on that "ansel12 wrote: That is just nonsense and is a waste of time to post."

Russia now has over twice the nukes of US and NATO. That is a fact.

“Putin made this statement”

These words are not in the article you posted, they are yours.

The only source for the quote is Poroshenko

There is a big difference between the words “may” and “could”.

And an even bigger difference between a boast and an accomplishment. Russia has suffered at the hands of smaller nations before.

Some of the Obama apologists on this site will NEVER accept that there are LIMITS to how far we and our allies can DEFUND our militaries before they cannot fight a modern, well-funded army. I guess they will have to learn the hard way and get a new user name here after that.

There is more to nukes than raw numbers.

Are you trying to say that Putin wants his 142 million people nation to disappear from history in a wild gesture of nuclear war with the nuclear armed nations of NATO?

Yea, I know. I deal with some leftiss that claim to be moderates where I work. They claim to be moderates, but are strong Zer0 supporters and are still proud they voted for him because Romney was rich.

There are no Obama apologists on freerepublic, just people that know something about the military, and then you handful of anti-American, Putin devotees and followers.

Russia has twice the nukes of the US and NATO combined due to apologist negotiations. It used to be the other way around. Yes, I know Russia, under Putin, is peaceful and would never invade another country(s). And Zer0 seems to LOVE evil, totalitarian governments. I not gone through common core so I can add 2+2.

Yea, pretty SICK people. They troll these sites, trying to start World War 3 with a military that has been DECIMATED by Obama. I can’t help thinking that they are simply plants, put here to try to convince us that all is well and that our IGNORING of 15 (maybe 20) years of Russian military modernization has absolutely NO IMPACT when it comes to fighting them.

Hopefully we get our asses whipped in a way that leaves most of this country intact, and then forces these people back into their caves, no different than the America First’ers just prior to World War 2 that also thought we were INVINCIBLE and had NO NEED AT ALL to prepare for a war against a well-armed enemy.

So hang in there, these people will go away...once we learn our lesson. I expect the first lesson to be the S-300 already deployed in Syria...we’ll likely get a black eye just from them, and those are only SECOND-RATE Russian SAMs.

You’re calling him a Putin devotee and anti-american because he pointed out limitations of the US military and wants it stronger?

These leftist people do not phase me. I have worked on military programs from nuclear missiles to satellites for over 30 years. I was in the middle east just after the first Gulf War. I was in an ally country, but they were primitive and brutal and I thought they were intrinsically evil. They were the best of what we were dealing with......

“These words are not in the article you posted, they are yours.”

Your comment is a lie as demonstrated by the second paragraph: “Putin made this statement during a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko....”
