Berlin. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in a couple of days he might commission the Russian troops not only in Ukraine but also in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Romania, Ukrainian news edition Liga reported, citing a publication of German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
According to the newspaper, Putin made this statement during a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko, who on the other hand, reported his words to European Commission (EC) President Jose Manuel Barroso.
If I want, the Russian troops may enter not only in Kiev but also in Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw and Bucharest, the German newspaper cited Putins words.
According to the newspaper, the Russian President advised Poroshenko not to count on the EU too much because if he wished, he could influence and block the decisions made in the EU.
There is a big difference between the words “may” and “could”.
I wonder if Putin will be in the Syria coalition?
I “may” break into your house, or I “could” break into your house.
Gotcha, sounds legit.
This is cartoon stuff, Russia doesn’t have the military might or structure, modernity, or manpower, logistics, or air power to invade NATO.
Russia may have as few as 244,000 men in it’s still primitive army, and threats internally and to the East.
NATO would chew it up quickly once it started trying to attack.
“F L E X I B I L I T Y”
In his book, Adolph Galland said the invasion of Poland, although it was a quick victory, was actually a tough fight that almost had disastrous consequences for the Germans.
Highly unlikely. It would trigger the more powerful Western Europeans to act. France and the UK may be much less powerful than they were in the 90s, but they are still powerful enough to see off the rather outmoded Russian military, even if Putin used his Navy and Air Force.
These countries on their own, sure... except maybe Poland who are surprisingly tough. Romania and the Baltics are weak.
Still, this would just be stupid. Its bluster, nothing more. He wants to spook people. Why would Putin extend himself just as the West is about to blunder into a war in Syria and Iraq thanks to McShame?
“We must destroy Assad.... grrrrrr”
At this point, if I was Putin, I would keep the Ukrainian destabilization on a low key, firm up relationships in Central Asia and with China, recover some economic momentum, perhaps do some ventures in the Arctic, advise against action in the Middle East so I look like the peacemaker again, and just kick back.
Obama and his hapless Euro acolytes will doom us all long before the Russian bear.
He’s putting the world on notice. The United States can’t protect Europe anymore. Obama has ended the Pax Americana.
When it comes to Russia’s Putin using may and could, the threat constitutes yet another act of intimidation in support of Russia’s aggression and unlawful conquests. In context with Russia’s recent aggressive military incursions into the airspace and sea boundaries of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, to name a few, Putin is daring these nations and the NATO members to risk a general war to stop his efforts to reconquer the former territories and captive governments of the Soviet Union.
As always Vlad wants to get a rise out of the west with an outlandish statement. The One is much too busy with the rest of the Democrats in their assault on the NFL to pay any mind to Comrade Putin. I think the left hates Roger Goodell more than they hate Putin. Well, tnat’s obvious because going after Goodell fufills a political strategy, the war on women.
Pooty-poot is getting a bit big for his britches.
Old Putin is feeling pretty good about himself right now.
I wonder if he has a nose ring on Obama?
I’m sure Putin has some very telling and nasty files on Obama.
I hope Putin “outs” him.
Yes the United States, Great Britain, France, Poland Germany, the Czech Republic, and the rest of NATO would defend NATO and easily crush the Russian army and air force, and pity the poor navy, leaving Russia to crumble and be picked apart, unless it then asked for NATO to help it defend itself from it’s true threats.
Your pro-Russian/Anti-American nonsense is just nonsense.
I don’t think he said that—its the old Putin=Hitler thing Ukraine is using to get money from the west.
Remember that the Russians were also invading Poland at the same time.
Have you seen “Katyn”? It is particularly useful for understanding Russia.
