Europe's family tree has a THIRD branch: Link found in genetic connection between Modern Europeans and Native Americans
Europeans share DNA with ancient hunters and Middle Eastern farmers
Study claims Europeans also share their genes with North Eurasians
This group gave their DNA to the people who traveled the Bering Strait
Ancient Middle Eastern farmers and their European descendants can trace ancestry to a previously unknown lineage called the Basal Eurasians
It has long been believed that modern Europeans descended from indigenous hunters and Middle Eastern farmers.
But a new study suggests all Europeans today have DNA from a third mystery group: Ancient North Eurasians. This group appears to have contributed DNA to present-day Europeans, as well as to the people who travelled across the Bering Strait into the Americas more than 15,000 years ago.
The study is based on analysis of ancient DNA which has shifted scientists' ideas of how groups of people migrated across the globe thousands of years ago. It also revealed that ancient Middle Eastern farmers and their European descendants can trace much of their ancestry to a previously unknown, even older lineage called the Basal Eurasians.
'Prior to this paper, the models we had for European ancestry were two-way mixtures. We show that there are three groups,' said David Reich, professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School.
'This also explains the recently discovered genetic connection between Europeans and Native Americans,' Professor Reich added.
'The same Ancient North Eurasian group contributed to both of them.'

This seems to be another way of saying the same thing.
Interesting stuff, eh? Perhaps blam might say that the Euros got here across the Atlantic. Definitely could be.
We’ll if you ever watch Scott Wolter, he’s convinced that Euro’s made it to the New World way before Columbus and mixed with the locals.
It’s an interesting topic.
It certainly makes sense if they were hunters who followed the retreat of the glaciers and the megafauna north. Some went east, some west.
ancient man found tiny islands out in the middle of no where in the pacific, I think they could find two giant continents across the atlantic from greenland
If some europeans make it to the east coast and mixed with the natives that were already here from asia that had migrated down to central and south america, you would end up with the indians of north america being taller and having more Caucasian features. Which is exactly what was here.
Native American Indians look distinctly different than the ones from central and south america
“This seems to be another way of saying the same thing.”
Seems like that, yes.
So where do redheads come from?
Soooo, 15K years ago, the Beatles began that trip down the long and winding road to.. Well, descendants thereof anyway.. a boogie fever even Justin Bieber can jiggy to.
It was all in the genes,, except for those who prefer jeans.
The Family Tree
Gospel, Rock and Contemporary
The Universe is a looped song.
Hummm along if ya can.
Our forebears probably did.
It was apparent in some northeastern American Indians.
Yes. If you look at most of Siberia today where the weather switches between intense cold and impenetrable mud you’ve certainly got to admire them.
About 25 years ago, when Donald Trump wanted a casino in Connecticut, he said that the Pequot and Mohegans didn’t look like Indians. Of course, the east coast of America were visited by the Vikings and others before Columbus.
I was in Italy a couple of years ago and in my desk drawer there are some Euros that got here across the Atlantic.
So where do redheads come from?
Neanderthals. Google Neanderthals redheads for some theories.
start with haplogroup R1b (for Red) with a gene mutation on chromosome 16, lower UV exposure levels above the 45th parallel, (and, a bit of neanderthal) and voila, red hair.

and:
“There is now strong evidence that both R1a and R1b people contributed to the diffusion of the A111T mutation of the SLC24A5, which explains apporximately 35% of skin tone difference between Europeans and Africans”

Yes, I've been known to say that as has Dennis Sanford.
Thanks. That’s interesting info.
Good grief. What rock have you been hiding under?
Have you never heard of the Vikings - beginning with Eric the Red, his son Leif and hundreds of others - who established what, over a 300 year period, became a settlement of 30,000 in Greenland = before The Little Ice Age that drove them out - most probably down the waterways to north America (LOTS of information re that) -
and Leif explored the eastern seaboard as far - as Florida 0 ALL WAY BEFORE Columbus. (1,000 to 1,300+ AD.)
Then there's Sir Henry Sinclair, Earl of Orkney, who, with about 750 men, women and children, sailed to Nova Scotia in the late 1300's - 100 years before Columbus...
That's just to name the more documented ones.
But then, of course, Columbus never set off to 'discover' a new land. he knew both North and South America were here - he had the Zeno maps. He set off to find a shorter and safer route to the Indies and the riches from the spices.
What he DIDN'T know about was Central America being in the way. Indeed, when he ran into the islands, he at first thought he's made it to the Indies - and named the natives "Indians."
Columbus, BTW, was eventually hauled back to Spain in chains on orders of the queen.
What, that's no in the public school history books either?
And BTW, the Pilgrims did NOT dress in black and white, either.
Bingo
