The Department of Homeland Security's inspector general just issued a highly critical report finding that DHS lacks sufficient supplies and preparedness to handle a domestic pandemic. Thirteen years ago, soon after the 9/11 attacks, letters laced with anthrax killed five Americans. Just as 9/11 revealed the country's vulnerabilities to terror attacks, the anthrax episode exposed the need for better routine surveillance and strategic stockpiling of key countermeasures against viral outbreaks or bioterror attacks. We're still far less prepared than we should be, and far more vulnerable than we're admitting.

to prepare us mentally for when the Soros Administration declares martial law
With the death of the Soviet Union, there was no more "boogie-man" for the gubmint to protect us from. But soon enough, terrorism was elevated to "boogie-man" status.
After more than a decade at war, terrorism just isn't getting the attention the gubmint thinks it deserves, and a majority of Americans now realize that gloBull warming is a hoax.
So next in line are (nearly) incurable diseases. What, there are none in the US? Well, let's go to Africa and bring some home!

"Yours are rhetorical questions, I am sure." They are silent screams into the empty blackness of space.

"Could Ebola survive long enough to be sent through the mail?"
About 21 hours on a dry surface--probably much longer if in some sort of damp solution.

"That would be unlikely. There are other modes of spread that would be simple, even with limited specialized skills and knowledge."
Yep, like surfaces in convenience stores, fuel nozzle handles, fuel dispenser buttons, hot springs places, ski resorts, etc.

You can do much better, but I don’t think it is productive to speculate in that direction.

"Not to worry, K. Our unionized militarized police forces will be on the front line attacking the Ebola virus, courtesy of Homeland Security."
Yep. They won't hesitate to arrest nervous, sweaty people who may or may not have Ebola. Should be interesting in situations like that in Ferguson.

Oh I see it's us on the outside that are not ready as the bunker door closes. Thanks for the reminder. I need to buy a welder...

That’s true. I was only speculating on how travelers might spread it without even knowing it.
