The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence will sue the online gun dealers who sold weapons to Aurora Theater shooter James Holmes, according to a a local news report.

“The lawsuit alleges that the websites negligently supplied Holmes with the arsenal he used to kill 12 people and wound at least 58 others by failing to use any screening mechanism to determine his identity or intent for the products,” the Brady Center said in a press release.

” . . . a Tennessee-based online retailer from which Holmes bought 6,000 rounds of ammunition — 3,000 each of handgun ammo and .223 rifle ammo, as well as 300 shotgun shells.”

I don’t get it. Are they saying he bought the ammo illegally, or just that he bought so much of it? He certainly didn’t use all of it so how does it matter how much he bought?

Sounds like it would just be a fun weekend for me and some of the guys at the range.

Unprecedented levels of absurdity. Or not. Those levels may have been surpassed many times by the lib/prog/commie/dhimmikkkrats in the past. But they are persistent.

i doubt that Holmes got any firearm used in the crime on line direct. He might have made a purchase from a dealer on line but had to receive the weapon through a local licensed dealer who had to perform a Brady check before handing over the firearm.

The Brady bunch could just as easily be sued for having the blood of scores of shooting victims on their hands. It’s their pressure that encourages “gun free zones” in schools and other public places, leading killers to select those venues for their attacks.

The defense SHOULD be able to obtain a summary judgment on this case. These dam frivolous lawsuits should result in sanctions and attorney fees as well. This nonsense needs to be checked!

“So if someone drowns in a swimming pool, they can sue the water company who supplied the water?”

This suit is harassment pure and simple. The defendants must hire a lawyer, go through the aggravation and stress of dealing with the BS involved and the negative impact on their reputations. It also sends a message to other sellers that they may be attacked.

lets see People can’t have a court case on Obama’s missing Birth Certificate and other legal documents because the Judge sez don’t have “standing.” (IIRC)

How does the Brady Center have “standing” on this issue?

Not like the old days (pre-64/GCA-68) when you could buy old Mausers in the mail in the back of Popular Mechanics. :>}

The injured should sue the gov or the cinema that made it a gun free zone. Creating a gun free zone , they took in full responsibility and accountability for the safety of those walking past that sign. Broken contract.

What is Brady’s legal standing allowing it to sue?
