The United States government is sending thousands of military troops to the west African nation of Liberia as part of the Obama administration's Ebola virus-response strategy, the White House said late Monday night.
....'A general from U.S. Army Africa, the Army component of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), will lead this effort, which will involve an estimated 3,000 U.S. forces.'

You are the one who doesn't read or at least comprehend. This is not a competition between the Army and the CDC. They are on the same team. What the Hell is wrong with you?
No you haven’t, you just posted tons of junk, like you have been all day, as long as it has CDC in it somewhere.
Thanks you. I feel better already. It’s seven weeks, not seven months.
It should be no problem asking young military men to avoid sex for seven weeks.
Active Duty ping.
No troops to fight the muzzie ISIS animals, but 3000 to be exposed to catch ebola and bring it back to the US. No wonder some people don’t believe we will survive past 2016.
There are no words to describe my utter contempt for these rat A holes, or at least no words I can use and continue to post here :-)
I was at sea for 63 days during a deploymnent. I managed to survive without sex.
Sheesh, you make them sound like abortion providers...
Even if this was considered a humanitarian gesture to build some field hospitals and hand out PPE and MREs, constructing Level IV isolation facilities is far better handled by general contractors in the healthcare industry.
Obama doesn’t want to send more than 300 armed men to fight ISIS, whom Kerry claims we will hunt down to the gates of hell, but instead sends 10 times as many to a high risk incurable infectious disease area.
It doesn’t make rational sense to me.
No.
There have been documented cases where the virus survived outside a body for 51 days. That doesn’t mean the virus doesn’t survive a longer period of time.
The prudent handling of those suspected of being infected is to place them in Biosafety Level IV isolation, and observing and testing them for about a month. It’s a very costly, high risk endeavor.
I wonder: would you want your kids, or wife, or mother, or father gunned down trying to escape forced isolation?
These are people we're talking about, you know.
As another poster mentioned above: this would be a no-win situation - we shouldn't be sending in our troops.
Hey! Been working 11 hrs days here!
If we have been asked for help in the form of people rather than supplies, equipment and medications, then by all means, let us send anyone who has relevant, necessary skills and who is willing to volunteer to assist.
” In enterprise of Martial kind when there was any fighting he led his regiment from behind he found it less exciting.
But when away his regiment ran his place was at the fore oh.
That celebrated, cultivated, underrated nobleman, the Prince Obolombo!
With apologies to W. S. Gilbert!
From Scientific American:
Q. The World Health Organization maintains that patients can continue to be infectious via their sexual fluids for several months after recovery. What did you recommend to Brantly and Writebol?
A. There are data that go back several decadesover several outbreaksthat suggest when you have individuals that have recovered from Ebola virus infection they may still be shedding nuclear material [genetic material from the virus which could potentially help spread it] in semen in males and vaginal secretions in females and also, potentially in urine. People have done this by doing assays looking specifically at the nuclear material of the virus. There has been very little attempt to demonstrate if this is viable virus that these individuals are shedding. Its important when looking at epidemiological investigations that no one has been able to show people shedding these nuclear materials as a source of infection after they are discharged.
Looking at Ebola survivors who were discharged and successfully resolved the infection, following up several months later and evaluating their family members, there has never been any evidence that family members became infected. A lot of the thinking now is this probably was not live and is not important in terms of control of infection. We did give both of our patients the standard recommendations, which are contained on the CDC [U.S. Centers for Disease Control] Web sitenot having unprotected sex for three months.

It isn’t arrogance. It’s true. There is no one else qualified to do what has to be done in West Africa. Other governments, health organizations, and charities have been begging us for help: personnel, equipment, supplies, and money.
It would be great if we could send volunteers. The problem is getting those volunteers, equipment, and supplies to West Africa and then distributing and configuring all of it. The U.S. Army is uniquely qualified for such a task.
That said, I don’t want to send our troops. I don’t like it one bit. I will be in constant prayer for God’s protection upon them.
Unless Motrin is the cure for Ebola, there is no point in sending US military to Africa to fight the disease. My son spent five months with Navy doctors tending to his injuries while in MRP at MCRD San Diego, and the only thing Navy doctors use is Motrin.

For six years there is a new outrage every day from Barack Hussein Obama - it is a high crime to put the United States armed forces in harms way with close exposure to a deadly epidemic in a trash pit like Liberia. I am sick of this traitor’s damage to our country and citizens.
“”What better way to waste and destroy their military
than to infect it ... and their families.”
Prayers for ALL military personnel, particularly those in harm’s way. May God protect you, and keep you from ALL ENEMIES...great & small...and that your obedience be to God so that He may direct your path unto righteousness. Jesus said to fear not the enemy, but to live by FAITH, and Trust in God(ONLY).
Seek Him in these troubled times, yet know He is always there with you, wherever you are....as we shall be, in our “support” of you. In Jesus’ Name, this I pray.
