The United Nations said Monday it has withdrawn its peacekeepers from many positions on the Golan Heights because of escalating fighting in the war between Syrian government forces and opposition fighters.
U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq told The Associated Press that he doesnt think every single post has been vacated. The U.N. peacekeepers withdrawn Monday have been moved to the Israeli side of the border.

Why are they being withdrawn????? Isn’t their purpose to “keep the peace”. So keep it! What a terrible joke the un is.
They are getting ready to come occupy America when the peace fails here and we start taking our country back.
theyre needed to train Obies Civilian Army....
The U. N. is absolutely worthless.
I can see third world nations hopeful of hobbling the U. S., support it. I can’t fathom why the U. S. is stupid enough to play along.
The U. N. is insidious. It is jealous of the U. S. It’s policies are almost always anti-U.S. It’s education materials which our Department of Education laps up with glee, is downright subversive and destructive of our nation.
When are folks going to wake up to this?
In the past UN force withdrawals have been coordinated with militant muslims who need them to get out of the way.
Ive never understood stmts like this. If the UN fails in places like the ME and Africa why do you think theyd succeed here? I cant think of a more hostile place than the US. Between regular armed citizens willing to fight, gangs, organized crime and our bumbling fed/state govts it would be a killing ground.
I don’t have faith in 70% of our population, made up of low-info types and the rest are do nothing, feel good types as long as football is on.
Yep, that was my first guess.
UN Peacekeepers are supposed to be there to ‘keep’ the peace. They are not there to ‘make’ the peace. Along the Syrian-Israeli border, there is now no peace to be kept.
IF the UN acted as it was originally envisioned, there would be a UN ‘PeaceMAKING’ team but that has rarely occurred, at least not since the Korean ‘police action’ of 1950-53.
Agreed, 70% are no-ops. The %ge might be even higher. Its the other 30% or so that would be a big problem. :)
The United Nations ... where failure is the only option.
US out of the UN
UN out of the US
..................
In other words Hizbollah has rearmed so their UN cover is no longer needed
My first thought, too. Same thing occurred in Sinai in ‘67. Peace keepers see war and skeedaddle. Useful as tits on bull.
More like the UN out of the planet. They’ve facilitated more war than perhaps any other “world organization” in history.
They’re great at keeping their own peace.
