U.S. Army sociologists are worried that a lack of black officers leading its combat troops will have detrimental effect on minorities and lead to fewer black officers in top leadership posts.
The issue exists. The leadership is aware of it, Brig. Gen. Ronald Lewis told USA Today on Thursday. The leadership does have an action plan in place. And its complicated.
The Army reports that only 10 percent of its active-duty officers are black, which has contributed to its dearth of black officers leading soldiers with occupational specialties in infantry, armor and artillery.
It certainly is a problem for several reasons, Col. Irving Smith, director of sociology at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, told USA Today. First we are a public institution. And as a public institution we certainly have more of a responsibility to our nation than a private company to reflect it...

You notice that nobody ever makes the same plans for the NBA or the NFL.
The fact of the matter is that, in the military, the soldiers who actually volunteer to fight and die for their country are overwhelmingly white , southern males.
I am glad I was able to retire, before this PC BS got unmanageable. I could not deal with it today, so I went Galt, and happily so.
I think that may apply to DoD civilians. I don’t know the stats but in the DoD contracting and procurement arena it seems like two out of every three are black and female.
those organizations certainly dont seem to have the same concerns as Unca Obies New Military do they
Unfortunately, they have been for the last 20 years.
Artificially promoting all minorities over their peers.
The more senior they become, the less satiated they are with hard work and any form of competition.
Fire the sociologists. The moment the military starts affirmative action the leadership is the moment our military ceases being great. Of all things the military is the one you simply want the best at their job not who sociologists think should do it, race just doesnt matter here.
I stand corrected.
U.S. Army sociologists

This must be satire.
We had a cure for inept field leadership in Vietnam. It was called ‘fragging’.
Active Duty ping.
We need effective leaders, not PC asshats who stay up an night wetting their panties wondering if there are is enough “diversity” in the leadership of our troops.
Want to fix it? Prepare yourself for CW2 and quit being wishy washy about it. The Ballot box has failed us as a remedy and cannot be counted upon to solve our problems due to demographics and fraud. Don't like that analysis? Too bad. Reality sucks.
Soon to be riding around the battle fields in the back of Toyota trucks.
I remember an article from the Gulf war stating more black soldiers were killed in combat buy also latinos were also over represented. So I did a quick search and from Scripps Howard News Service I found this article
http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/immigration/iraq.htm
Here is an excerpt:
“Nearly a fifth of the fatalities among U.S. troops in the current war in Iraq are black, which will be the highest cost African Americans have paid in any of America’s
wars if the trend continues.
There are also indications that Hispanics may be over-represented among the war dead, according to a Scripps Howard News Service study.
This isn’t the result of minorities being assigned to dangerous duty in front-line units. Elite combat troops like Special Forces units and the Green Berets are
disproportionately white, military experts said. The U.S. Army’s dash to Baghdad forced supply convoys occasionally to traverse enemy-held territory in southern
and central Iraq, leaving minority troops assigned to logistical units vulnerable.”
Yeah, I agree. And the affirmative-action promotions downgrade and devalue the contributions of many fine and totally qualified minority officers.
“What? No quotas for homosexuals and cross dressers on the officer ranks?”
It’s coming next.
That appears to be true, from my reckoning too.
Just the MOS I was always looking forbut could never find. Diversity NCOIC.
