Kansas Democratic Senate candidate Chad Taylor’s effort to get his name taken off this fall’s ballot will be heard in the state’s supreme court, according to reports, the latest twist in a suddenly fast-changing race thought to be a shoo-in for Republicans.
Last week, Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach ruled that Taylor will have to remain on the ballot since he did not demonstrate that he was incapable of serving if elected, a requirement under state statutes. Taylor went on to file a lawsuit against Kobach, claiming an election official helped him prepare the necessary documents to withdraw from the race; the official denies doing so.
Kobach argued that the lawsuit should be taken up in a lower court, but the supreme court decided the matter was too time-sensitive to go through the standard process, particularly as some ballots are set to be mailed before the end of the month, according to the Hill.
The make-up of the court may favor Taylor: Four of the bench’s seven judges were appointed by former Democratic governor Kathleen Sebelius.
Taylor’s sudden decision is considered by many to be part of a Democratic political strategy to unseat Republican incumbent Pat Roberts, and move a previously safe Senate seat into play. If Taylor voters move to support independent candidate Greg Orman, Roberts will face much stiffer competition, with a recent poll showing him trailing in a match-up against Orman.

The MSM has always been leftist, but Roberts has been in office since time immemorial, how are they an obstacle now?
The rule won’t be changed, the Democrats will just get a pass to ignore the rule. The rule will still apply to Republicans.

leftists don’t put much authority in that.
Their ad hoc judgement in the here and now, at lease in their minds, always has more authority than any law written in the past.
How predictable. Political hacks acting as judges will simply determine a result and craft the reasoning behind it. It is not that our judicial system is broken, it is more that it has been corrupted. Having said that, the harder the democrats work to get Taylor off of the ballot, the more it makes Orman look culpable. Soon enough, Orman will be equated with the democrat party in them mind of the voter.
When the Kansas Supremes rule against one part of the statute, what’s to stop them from overruling the part that says a replacement must be named?
Right. Nothing.
Judges will make law, Democrats will get what they want and Republicans will, as usual, do nothing as long as they keep getting invited to the right cocktail parties.

That is exactly what Pat Roberts. He found someone to say he still resides in KS. You would think a conservative state like KS could come up with better candidates.
That's what the Democrats want in this case. They're running a Democrat as an "independent" and want to ditch their own official candidate - in violation of statute - so that the non-vandidate candidate doesn't draw votes away from their "independent" candidate.
People in KS disappoint more so than not.
How about withholding bad news for Greg Orman's campaign as an example? The other day a federal judge in Wichita berated him and his lawyers for not presenting some papers at discovery during the 30 million lawsuit against him and his former company. The judge was very angry about this. If this had been a republican or conservative, they would have been all over this. I've been checking the local news sites and not one news article about the judge berating Orman. They have barely covered the lawsuit. I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for Breitbart reporting it. Here is the article from Breitbart:

I think in a normal year, Roberts wouldn't have any problems. With all the disdain for all things Washington DC and a few stumbles by him and the left smelled blood in the water thinking this could be a path to helping hold on to the Senate. Greg Orman is turning out to be a terrible candidate though and no where independent like he claims. The democrats have already cut their candidate loose so it would give the liberal Orman a chance. They may end up regretting that as Orman's narrative continues to crumble.

Taylor hasn’t given a reason yet.
BTW, this is a slap in the face to the people of Kansas, who foot the bill for the @#$%^ primary election. And, likely why we have a law against such shenanigans.

The ruling will be he can’t have his name removed because he’s withdrawing for election ‘strategery’.
It’s a political issue and the law is clear.
It’s certainly a political issue, but the Kansas Supreme Court has demonstrated that they are not much interested in the law, they are interested in politics and they use their judical powers to achieve political objectives. 4 of the 7 members of the court were appointed by Democrat Governor Kathleen Sebelius. Don’t expect their ruling to respect the law.
