Global markets are suddenly jittery about the prospect that Scotland, after 307 years as part of the United Kingdom, could become its own country if Scots vote for independence in a Sept. 18 referendum. If proud but tiny Scotland can do it which polls suggest is a distinct possibility then Americas 28th state, Texas, will certainly take notice.
If any state is fed up with the rest of America, its Texas. Republican Gov. Rick Perry floated the idea of seceding from the United States in 2009, though he later backpedaled. A petition for Texas to withdraw" from the United States, lodged on the White Houses We the People Web page, gathered 125,000 signatures before voting closed in 2013. A group called the Texas Nationalist Movement has nearly 190,000 likes on Facebook.

Texas was a very active participant in the War of Northern Agression against the US Government. My great-grandad fought with John Bell Hood et al.
Yes - If it’s going to happen it better happen soon. And the Californians are worse at assimilating than the Mexicans.
Gee, really?
Texas seceded from the Union in 1861 and the Union - the USA - proceeded to conduct a vicious war against Texans which denied that they had the right to secede....which they had just done to Mexico in 1836.
Texas has been a republic once before in history. No reason they couldn't do it again.
You guys want to try this crap again?
Don’t learn much do ya?
Texas produced 16,000 active duty in 2004 alone, Canada had 28,000 enlistments from 2003 to 2008.
If Texas succeeds, then I can see many other States following. Most in the South and Midwest.
Without Texas’ electoral votes, we’re screwed to be dominated by the Democrats.
No thanks, we need Texas to have some semblance of sanity.
Born and raised there and would move back in a heart beat if they do. It will be hard to leave Montana, but I’ll be on my way.
Yet.
The root of their problems is the same as the place Obama wants to take America - provide instant welfare and government support for anyone coming across the border and then bend over to set aside our culture to observe theirs.
Can Tennessee join the fray? They’ve Volunteered before...
“Besides, didnt Texas try this once already before it got whipped back into line by Abraham Lincoln and the Feds?”
Back then Yankees were made of sterner stuff.

Texas was an independent country for 10 years. 1836 to 1846.
The invasion is nearly complete, and there is no stopping the inevitable now. Texas will turn blue in the next 10 years like California before it and for the same reasons.
Walk into any maternity ward in the state if you want to know why.

Texas was an independent republic from 1836-1846.
They applied for admission to the United States but it took some years because of opposition within Congress.
One of the opponents to admitting Texas was Illinois Congressman Abe Lincoln.
How do you think some of us got here? LOL!
No, the Scots aren’t. And I am one. Islam is bottom of any concerns, as less than 1% of the population is Muslim and the Scots Muslim community hasn’t had any terrorists problems/extremists (except for that lassie recently), and has been quick over the years to clamp down on any potential trouble.
Can Alabama come too? Pretty please. We’ll bring Jeff Sessions with us.
You seem to have developed the habit of posting triumphalist nonsense on threads in any way associated with the South. Why not see if you can post something that adds to the discussion for a change?
