Ford vs. Carter was 1976. My bad.
He began with Poland, and then repeated the statement like a litany, naming at least two other nations.
At the mention of Poland I was thinking “he can’t be serious...I didn’t hear right”. When he mentioned the others I was convinced that he was from another planet.
Got that right. It was like a total disconnect from reality.
I don’t remember Carter’s reaction, but I can’t help but think it was something like, “Oh darn, he just nailed me again...” LOL
I think Carter actually knew better than Ford on this, but knowing Carter, who knows.
