A new opinion poll on Scottish independence has found the no vote back in the lead at 53% of voters, suggesting the sudden surge in backing for independence has subsided.
Only days after a spate of polls suggested the referendum race was neck and neck, the Survation poll for the Daily Record has found that the no vote is now at 53%, giving the pro-UK campaign a six point gap over yes.

It would be quite interesting if the Scots voted Yes for independence. The English would likely end up laughing their asses off as the Scots finally realized that the gravy train from London had stopped running. Their bowels would be in an uproar, and their kilts would be flapping like mad from all of the hot air and brown stuff rapidly departing their rectal areas.

Scotland will “prosper” for around 20 years post independence. By prosper I mean oil money will keep us solvent. I expect our oil revenue will remain substantial enough for the next 20 years or so. As the oil money runs out public services will be cut and/or taxes will rise. We will become poorer.
Agreed. That’s going to happen here, in the U.S.A., too. There will be hundreds of millions of new vehicle drivers and air travelers in developing countries over the years to come, and manufacturing will, on balance, will also increase in those countries. Meanwhile, our real U.S. economy has shrunk horribly (propaganda aside).
We’ve already passed “peak oil.” That’s why our U.S. energy producers are pressing on with more expensive methods of production in the face of foreign threats.
Some of them are supporting the needed strategy with continuing higher fuel margins and prices here (about a dollar and a half above wholesale in the tourist area around me). It’s not a bad foreign policy under the circumstances. Better than a hasty run to war. The last time that I had a look, Russia needed about $101 (USD) per barrel of oil to break even.
There are several ways to use much less fuel without lowering the quality of life, though. More distributed production with less centralized production is one way. There are also other fuels. Hugh Piggot (Scotland, axial flux alternator) didn’t have all of the answers, but he did come up with one good answer of many. So did Wayne Keith (U.S., revival of wood gasification), and so do others.

The CALIFORNIA approach is to find a JUDGE to rule that the vote is ILLEGAL.
For the Brits, perhaps a BIG-GOVERNMENT JUDGE in the World Court can do the same. But they’ll have to find one of those judges...as if that will be tough.
If they vote for independence the Scots will immediately face several problems. Will Scotland issue their own currency or continue to use British pounds? Scotland will also have to establish citizenship, determine who will be citizens and issue passports. Would Scotland join the EU or even be accepted for membership in the EU? I would think the problems in becoming an independent nation would be huge and not easily resolved.
Not if we stop the SNP winning the Scots elections.
I am a Tory, but I would happily vote for Labour tactically and accept their rule at Holyrood if it meant the next 10-20 yrs without this all over again.
Scotland contributes more to the UK than it gets back, and more than its % of pop.
And I say that as a NO voter.
Scotland is a prosperous part of a prosperous UK.
