Dem Congressman: ‘Forces That Will Rise If ISIS Is Destroyed Are Nearly as Evil as ISIS’

CNSNews.com) - Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Ca.), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, warned Tuesday that destroying ISIS would only empower those fighting against the terrorist group – who are almost as evil as ISIS.

“If you destroy one power in the Middle East, you empower the other side, and the four groups that are fighting ISIS now are in many ways nearly as evil as ISIS itself, and in fact, those who are fighting against ISIS today on the ground have killed far more Americans than ISIS has,” said Sherman, top Democrat on the Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade Subcommittee.

Yeah the real problem in Iran is the “Twelver” morons running the show. They would have fallen without much of a push just a few years ago so naturally Obama wouldn’t even give the people so much as a few words of encouragement.

For those who don’t know, the Twelvers believe the Mahdi is going to climb up out of a well and cleanse the world in blood and they’re chosen to help him do it.

I think the Dim congressman is only half right.

I think if we hit ISIS with our air power, in Iraq and inside Syria (but ONLY ISIS in Syria), we have a good chance of making a stalemate between Assad and the Syrian opposition more likely and more convincing to the Syrian opposition and Assad, and then have a chance of getting them first to a truce, then political steps from there.

Comment: When some 30 % of the present leadership of ISIS is taken out it will disintegrate in smaller sub-ISIS fighting for control and can be mopped up in Iraq by the Kurds and the Sunni tribes.

Since some 5 % of the youth population is attracted by authoritarian ideas and violence there will be Salafist terrorists for another couple of years. It is similar to the left wing terrorists a few years ago. They are just looking for a cause. I wonder what ideas will attract this type of people in 2030?

I've heard the same from Iraqi Christians about Saddam, as hard as that is for Americans to believe.

Saddam's foreign minister, Tariq Aziz, is Christian.

ISIS are selling oil “at a discount of between $30 and $40 a barrel through smuggling routes in Turkey, Kurdistan and Jordan,” he said. And though the terrorist group is not seen as strong enough to seize the rest of Iraq’s 2.5 million barrels a day of production, the small amount the Islamic State now controls is enough to yield about $1 billion of year in funds to support their brutal operations, he said.

“That’s a scary situation. That’s a lot of money for a terrorist group to have access to.”

In his travels in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East, Mr. Faulkner said he’s found allies are no longer certain that the U.S. will provide military support if they need it, creating openings for troublemakers. “The guard of the world may be asleep. It’s a very scary situation.”

“You have allies asking us, ‘If ISIS invades, will the U.S. help us out?’ Most allies don’t know anymore. The answer used to be a solid yes. It’s because of the downsizing of the military, 20 long years of war, lots of debt” and other legacies of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, he said.
