Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) is backing a state proposal to increase Arkansas's minimum wage, a move that could muddle a major attack from Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.).
"I'm going to vote for that initiated act as a citizen, but as Arkansas's next United States senator I'm going to make sure that we have a healthy economy, not the kind of minimum-wage economy that Barack Obama and Mark Pryor have created. The minimum wage should be a floor and a stepping stone to higher-wage jobs, not a ceiling," Cotton told conservative radio host Alice Stewart when asked about the state initiative.

Friggin' idiot
Political hacks will say or do anything for power.
UGH!
Good thing all the teenagers in Arkansas start at the top, because they won’t be startin’ at the bottom.
Gonna jump down pick a bale of greenbacks...
Gonna jump down pick a bale of greenbacks...
All the live long say...
The minimum wage is the vilest form of slavery. It prohibits an honest employee from setting a market-based price for the work. Abolish the minimum wage! Crush unions! Restore prosperity! Let freedom ring!
GOPe true to form. Let the left control the narrative and agenda. Another vote for a federal minimum wage increase in Congress.
Same as the old boss.
But that’s OK. At least it’s a Republican doing it. See, that’s the conservative movement of today. It matters not at all how far left a candidate is. No matter how much he supports gay everything, how much he backs abortion or how much he embraces leftist economics. As long as he claims to be ‘Republican, an army of online idiots will act as his personal PR squad and ensure he gets elected.
Because not voting for leftists is a sin today tantamount to murder as long as he/she comes with an “R” attached.
And for those that deny it, go right ahead. History shows otherwise. Two words. Mitt Romney. Two more: Thad Cochran. Two more Rick “LaRaza/Hillary was a great SOS” Perry. Two more: John Bhoner...Mitch...Lindsay...
The defense rests.
He is looking at the polls and they tell him he must do this to win.
another reason why insisting on ideological purity is a good thing!
That’s nice.
It is very motivating to see a politician’s position on issues being determined
by polls instead of principal.
That should really motivate the base in Ark.
The GOP speaker of the house in Ar called all the reps and told them not to oppose the leadership on this. They’ve all jumped the shark.
Cotton may be doomed now.
Another pandering economic illiterate RINO. I miss Ronald Reagan.
Not one conservative fiber in Cotton.
Its like accepting the Medicare.
They know that if they get booted they will just be another loser.
Republicans get creamed in the minimum wage debates because they just repeat arguments that were winners in the early 1980s.
Dems are constantly updated their arguments to stay ahead.
They have 10 new ones for every Republicans 1980s one.
Its a shame we have elections and that those like Levin or Rush cant just be crowned King rather than have to deal with this, but this is the world we must live in.
Correction: accepting the medicaid not medicare.
It’s an Arkansas ballot initiative folks, not a piece of legislation. I expect that he’ll be spending minimal, if any, actually trying to promote this. The important thing is that he needs to replace the ‘RAT in the US Senate.
And the funny thing is that the Chamber of Commerce, usually an enemy of conservatives recently, will almost certainly be spending THEIR money to defeat the initiative. And that’s good as they’ll then have less money to spend elsewhere.
The problem is the American voter. This is what they want. They are so ignorant of economics that they fall for this nonsense. Every election, all politicians make the same promises, and when they don’t produce the impossible, the voters fall for the next con artist that makes the same promises. I think we’re doomed.
