Climate: EPA eyes limits on airline carbon pollution

U.S. airlines may soon be required to at least start thinking about cutting their carbon footprint.
The EPA last week started a rule-making process aimed at determining whether fast-growing carbon emissions from American aircraft endanger public health and welfare.
The EPA action came a month after the Center for Biological Diversity and Friends of the Earth, which is represented by Earthjustice, threatened to sue the agency for failing to reduce greenhouse gas pollution from aircraft.
Conservation advocates say airlines could easily make big cuts in emissions, for example by upgrading fleets with fuel-efficient planes.

Also realize this: If a person were to travel 2,500 miles across the nation by car, they would spend a whole lot in refilling the gas tank. Possibly more than a plane ticket.

Go ride BART, MARTA or DC's METRO....
.
Then think about union employees, maintenance, and physical deterioration.....

We need a Republican in the White House and Republican majorities in the Senate and the House. They must be Republicans with enough testicular fortitude to fire every one of these commie frijoles (keeping it clean) at the EPA and IRS. Every one of them!

Why go half-way?
Windmill-powered aircraft!!! Just think... the higher the altitude, the higher the winds aloft... and the more power they can generate for flight!!

"Not just a polluter, but a GROSS polluter."
How about "gross emitter?" That's the phrase that a radio station ad in a ski resort area on the CO Rockies is using to describe used cars. An NGO for car dealers is pushing to have used vehicles scrapped (and no doubt, sent to foreign countries for manufacturing along with all of the other steel and iron scrap).
Continuing artificial scarcity with the continuing efforts to slowly shrink the economy to fit a small portion of the employees of today will make for an interesting nation indeed.

“fast-growing carbon emissions from American aircraft”
What utter, complete, Bovine excrement.
Today’s aircraft are the most fuel-efficient, least polluting ever built.

And by an amazing coincidence, Jeff Immelt’s General Electric just happens to have a new type of engine that can reach these carbon footprint goals! How lucky is that!
