WASHINGTON The Obama administration is preparing to carry out a campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria that may take three years to complete, requiring a sustained effort that could last until after President Obama has left office, according to senior administration officials.
The first phase, an air campaign with nearly 145 airstrikes in the past month, is already underway to protect ethnic and religious minorities and American diplomatic, intelligence and military personnel, and their facilities, as well as to begin rolling back ISIS gains in northern and western Iraq.
The next phase, which would begin sometime after Iraq forms a more inclusive government, scheduled this week, is expected to involve an intensified effort to train, advise or equip the Iraqi military, Kurdish fighters and possibly members of Sunni tribes. The final, toughest and most politically controversial phase of the operation destroying the terrorist army in its sanctuary inside Syria might not be completed until the next administration. Indeed, some Pentagon planners envision a military campaign lasting at least 36 months. Mr. Obama will use a speech to the nation on Wednesday to make his case for launching a United States-led offensive against Sunni militants gaining ground in the Middle East, seeking to rally support for a broad military mission while reassuring the public that he is not plunging American forces into another Iraq war.

“Especially since we’re on their side” they added.
That’s because the Feds don’t want to kill them.
Translation: This cannot be expected to be completed by the time Obama leaves office. However, the next administration will be given 6 months -- if they can't fix it by then, I guess they are total failures.
Lead follow or get out of the way
The problem is bigger than ISIS and it won’t be solved any time soon.
I thought Obama didn’t want it destroyed but “managed”

The Russians understood the dynamic in Syria from the beginning. They knew if nearby Syria became dominated by Islamists, it would become a base and haven for the jihadists who are causing mayhem in southern Russia. It is now known that the leadership of ISIS and its most barbaric jihadists are often from Chechnya. The Russians want them killed in Iraq and Syria before they return to Russia. Same concern of European and American security people. Pity that relations with Russia under Obama have soured to the point where joint efforts against ISIS are not possible. Also apity that the US has a President who is deeply conflicted about ordering infidel, white, Christian pilots to bomb dark skinned Muslim jihadists however barbaric they may be.
Active Duty ping.
This should really only take about 30 minutes. Once they see the Bright Light of Freedom (20 megatons’ worth)...
Obama is only pretending to fight IS. He’s actually all for it. And apparently so are all the military political hacks and all the appointees who work for him.
ISLAM is the problem....As long as it exists....
Thomas Jefferson and Richard III were fighting these murderous bastards. They aren’t going away on 0bamas’s handy political time schedule.
Don’t forget that Brennan was a Bush1 appointee as a Muslim Saudi ‘runner’ and now the guy heads up the CIA. However, he is not the only wolf in the top of government such as the Muslims that form the top Obama circle of advisors. Throw into the mix the likes of Jarrett and Axelrods and the USA was/is being prepared to be stewed.
Yep. Now stand by to be attacked by BushBots.
...it’ll never be destroyed if we keep electing socialists.
We’ll just have to learn to live with the occasional bombing. :)
Wow, a whole 145 strikes since they started bombing ISIS. The First Gulf War, one thousand sorties the first night. We all know this admin is not serious about confronting ISIS and is engaged in limited strikes just to get themselves through the current news cycle until its not the top story anymore. I really loath the bozo’s in this admin more than I hated the Clinton bozo’s.
