Having read a number of these threads I am not shocked to find that a number of the names that often grace FR with wholly unconservative positions and support for the GOPe pols —ALSO— are having fits about the Scots taking their self determination and governance into their own hands.

Who would have guessed....

Scottish nationalism (like all the other Celtic nationalisms) is LEFT WING, not conservative.

not sure, but millions of socialists could leave the UK , and that for the UK is a good thing.

Not sure why some think Scotland is this nice dreamy land of just Scottish folk who are nice conservative people. Most are socialists who get a say on how England and the rest go forward.

Good riddance to Scotland because they won’t be able to afford their welfare anymore and all those Sots working in the UK will have to leave too and lose their jobs.

Either way everyone wins. Any time one disperses concentrations of liberalism, Like the cesspool of it in the UK, the power of liberal influence diminishes.

And of course liberal or not, I have to wonder why so many here argue against the founding principle of America. The right for people to determine their own futures.

Indeed. I mean I love Scottish history and much about the Scots in general (they are much politer and kinder than the English). But they have an unusual history, going from liberty lovers to statist huggers (the Stuarts). At this moment they are in the statist camp.
