A former USC professor once on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted fugitives list pleaded guilty Friday to flying to the Philippines and having sex with several underage boys he groomed online. Walter Lee Williams, 65, admitted engaging in illegal sexual contact with minors in foreign places, entering the plea during a brief appearance before U.S. District Judge Phillip S. Gutierrez. As part of a plea, federal prosecutors agreed to recommend that the onetime eminent professor of gender and sexuality studies serve no more than five years in a federal prison. He also would be subject to 10 years supervision upon release and must pay $25,000 in restitution to his seven victims. Williams will be sentenced Dec. 15. He was apprehended within a day of making the FBI's Most Wanted List in June 2013 after he was indicted on sex crimes involving two 14-year-old boys in the Philippines. He was captured in the Mexican coastal town of Playa del Carmen after a resident recognized his photo from a newspaper.

When a new inmate would arrive on the yard, the other inmates would ask them for their papers, so they could find the child molesters, and plan their assaults on him. It was ironic, that the other inmates would leave them alone if they were muderers, arsonists, drug dealers and all around slime bags, but would try to kill them if they were Chesters.

I agree with the sentencing issue, more than you know. Especially today—many kids are charged with sexual crimes while teens and spend their lives branded and unable to build a life.
But, not knowing the circumstances in this case, the perp was most likely caught due to participating in sexual tourism. There is an entire industry built around providing women and children for tourists to abuse them. Prosecution of sex tourism is pretty rare, so this guy may have been caught up in a sting, or turned in by someone who knew of his activities.
In California, it is a miracle that the legislators will fund any other courses except Queer Studies.

Yes. That is the big problem with this article. It is not very explicit what his crime was. I’m certain he was unaware of what his crime was. He probably believed he found a loophole for his immoral activity.

According to their website, U.S. Citizenship is a requirement, although it appears that they may have other programs, because one of their “MAIN GOALS” is “DIVERSITY.”
