A growing number of Westerners are joining the Islamist militant group—but why?
The Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) is gaining notoriety for its barbaric methods, after videos showing beheadings and mass killings surfaced online.
Meanwhile, the group has been attracting an increasing number of foreign fighters coming from the West, analysts say. But why are so many foreigners joining ISIS’ fighting ranks? Among a range of explanations, one of them is that, compared to other jihadist groups like al-Qaeda, ISIS is extremely welcoming to foreigners, said Joshua Landis, a Syria specialist at the University of Oklahoma.
“The biggest reason for that is that ISIS philosophically has welcomed all Muslims as equals, as it’s building an islamic state which does not have particular Syrian angle,” Landis said. “Also, ISIS’ leadership is made of people with very prominent roles that are foreigners so you’re not going to be discriminated against philosophically if you’re foreign.”
Social media also plays a significant role.

Who cares why? Just ban them from returning to the U.S. and dispose of them if possible. This is similar to what happened after 9/11 - many in the U.S. began to spend precious time worrying about “Why do they hate us?” when they should have spent their time figuring out how to rid the world of the vermin!
Because they lost their health insurance because of obamacare?
That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. There have always been those among us who want to murder, rob, and rape without consequences.
I am certain that 100% of the Westerners fighting for ISIS are hardcore Democrats or people with a strong liberal Marxist view.
