I’ve seen Van Halen, Yes, Jethro Tull and various incarnations of Clapton at least 20 times each, but, I spent a year one night with Jimi Hendrix in 1967 and still don’t have words to describe it.

I went to see The Monkees one night and my life (no pun) changed forever after seeing and hearing Jimi. I came out and got in line for the second show like a zombie and left after the Hendrix set (which was entirely different from the first show). I abandoned my beloved Monkees and came of age. Not since seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in February of ‘64 had anything affected me so profoundly. The next day I renamed my band to, “Third Stone From The Sun” and ten years later I was touring with a tribute band called “Roomful of Mirrors”. If ever I’m able to stage another act we’ll play Hendrix.

I did see The Beatles on Ed Sullivan as a kid.
Not the same as seeing Hendrix Live but that is a cool memory from the day.
