Publius, I was born in March of 1960 when “A Theme from a Summer Place” peaked at #1 - the first instrumental to do so and I believe still the or one of the top selling instrumentals too. Ironically it also peaked during one of the top ten snowstorms here in Boston.

Lot of good ones mentioned above. Here are a couple I like.
IMHO the best rendition of the Marine Corp Hymn is from the movie Halls of Montezuma with Richard Widmark.

From 1968's "The Sterile Cuckoo". The book took a lighter look at the relationship than the movie. The film is a heartbreaker.
