More than 70 percent of Russians would ban imports of booze and cigarettes from Western countries in retaliation for sanctions, but few would give up foreign cars or pay an additional tax on vacations abroad, a recent poll indicated.
Other popular measures included blacklisting foreign hotels (supported by 77 percent) and banning Ukrainian candy imports (79 percent), the state-run VTsIOM pollster said in a report released Wednesday.
But only 43 percent of respondents apparently including those who don't even drive would approve of restrictions on bringing foreign-made cars into the country, the report said.
The possibility of paying an extra tax to take a vacation abroad was the least favorite measure, though it still got the approval of 38 percent of respondents.
The poll was conducted on Aug. 16-17 among 1,600 people in 42 Russian regions and had a margin of error of no more than 3.4 percentage points.
Russians deserve their dictators.
Bid talk while they still have booze and cigarettes
Russians are betwixt and between, being part of both Europe and Asia.
However, they’re Western (if about 500 years behind the times) in their mentality and have always wanted to be considered part of the West - which was why anybody who was anybody in Russia prior to 1917 spoke French.
Russia’s big problem after the collapse of the USSR was that anyone who had money and influence had made their living or gotten their influence through crime and the black market. That was because this was the only way somebody who was not politically connected could get by.
This is why Russian areas of NYC are “Mafia Central,” because Russians brought in a lot of organized crime.
But what they’re really saying now is not that they hate the West, but that they hate Obama. I can’t think of anybody who has been worse with the Russians. They don’t respect him, they don’t like him, and they think he’s going to sell them out to Islam. Which he will.
That's the Polish word. I'm speaking English here, not Polish. Do you also correct posters who refer to French wine as opposed to "vin"? Am I allowed to refer to Akihito as the Japanese Emperor or are you going to yell at me if I don't refer to him as 天皇?
LOL. Total BS.
“And the Russian stuff is horse piss “
I think the “vodka” that average Russian working stiff drinks (just before he beats his wife) is synthesized and distilled from natural hydrocarbon gas.
Nick Russians are not give up the vodka LOL!
Nice one.
