Republicans have a clear advantage on immigration in a recent poll, a potent weapon for GOP candidates in the final stretch of the midterm elections.
The George Washington University Battleground Poll shows that more Americans trust Republicans to do a better job handling immigration than Democrats, 48 to 41 percent — and in states with competitive Senate races, the share of people who trust Republicans more on immigration jumps to 61 percent. In addition, the poll shows that 58 percent of Americans either somewhat or strongly disapprove of President Obama's handling of immigration.
he findings indicate that immigration could be a more hazardous political issue for Democrats than previously thought. In an election cycle without any prevailing national theme, immigration has recently moved to the top of the national consciousness, according to Gallup polling.
Meanwhile, Democrats have been losing sleep over the possibility of the president taking executive action on immigration prior to November.
Immigration is not the only bright spot for Republicans in the poll, which shows disapproval of Democrats and, in particular, President Obama on a range of issues.

Conservatives have powerful influence in the House but not so much yet in the Senate. The Senate will take another couple of election cycles to get power.
The GOP establishment Senators now in leadership are no better than dems.
Conservatives do hold power in the states more so that in both chambers of Congress. But states have yet to find their power buttons. Such buttons do exist for states via the judiciary but states are still learning the ropes of how to use the judiciary to pin the federal government down.
Agree with all but the senate comment. Pubs still better in senate than dems, but not as conservative as the house.
McConnell controls the GOP in the Senate. He pushed through the cloture vote for the Senate’s comprehensive Immigration Reform.
There is no way that McConnell is better than a dem. The fact is McConnell is a dem with an ‘R’ by his name. He is bought, paid for and controlled by the same entities that control the dems.
What McConnell will do in the Senate as majority leader is compromise the immigration bill to pacify conservatives that border security will be in place. But as in the past, border security will be forgotten and millions and millions of illegals will be granted amnesty. In other words, McConnell will do what he does best, speak out of both sides of his mouth and end up pissing on conservatives.
Better an enemy in front of you that you can see rather than one to your rear ready to stab you in the back.
That is more clueless than correct. The liberal republican legislative leadership has done everything they can to get Amnesty through.
The senate has already passed a bill with help from McConnell.

If you can’t see the damage of the last 6 years on many issues that we could’ve stopped with a pub senate and house I just can’t say anything else. I’m in agreement with need for more conservative senators and a Cruz in the majority is preferable to a Cruz in the minority. The ability of rinos to play with the dems when pubs are the majority is clearly less.
The truth is that your republican leadership in the Senate, has advanced Harry Reid's liberal agenda with critical cloture votes.
Harry couldn't have done it without McConnell.
History doesn't bear out your delusions.
And the bottom line is that your party doesn't get my vote until it gets conservative.

Never said there weren’t rinos. They are weak as can be. That said no pub was liberal enough to vote for obamacare. Which is just one example.
Also, no way our conservative senators will be heard if we can’t bring some of the house bills up for a vote. That will not happen under Reid. Ever.
We will just have to disagree.
I think we agree at least 90% of the time.
Back when I was a freshman in High school,(1952) I had a science teacher that I admired very much. One day a bunch of kids were gathered around a lab table talking about going steady and whether or not it was a good idea. They asked Mr. Bushong what he though about the notion.
His reply, "If you never had anything to eat except rotten eggs, how would you know what a good one tasted like."
I did not really grasp the full value of his answer until many years later.
House Bills will also not be brought up by McConnell. The only difference is he will ‘say’ he will attempt to bring up House Bills but then he will say the votes are not there on the dem side and therefore will let the House Bills languish.
McConnell will not fight for House Bills unless they are GOPe bills or dem bills.
You should note that conservatives like this poster worked around the clock and gave every last extra dollar to the max allowed by law working to give GW Bush a GOP House and Senate. And what was the result? More government socialism.
What you need to accept is the reality that you as a conservative have lost already by design. The ruling class is bought and paid for and is controlled by entities that have designed it so that conservatives lose.
If you vote, you lose.
If you don’t vote, you lose.
Your vote, conservative votes have been neutered.
The ruling oligarchs think the battle against conservatives has pretty much been won but there are still cleanup operations to be performed. That’s how they think.
The Tea Party wave of 2010 in the eyes of the ruling oligarchs has been dealt with by crippling Tea Party candidates and having the media make it a pariah.
A few battles such as Cantor and others have surprised but they think in terms of months and years and are committed to destroying conservatives using dems, GOP establishment and media.
When you cheerlead GOP establishment, you are losing. When you don’t cheerlead GOP establishment, you are losing.
There are three strategies for conservatives to win:
1. Continue electing tea party conservatives and pray that America wakes up to a wave of passion and commitment. But note Americans wake up when there is a catastrophe such as the 2009-2010 financial collapse or a direct attack on America. In other words this strategy relies on a catastrophe that isn’t wanted by conservatives.
2. Go 3rd Party. Conservatives are reluctant to do this because of too many unknowns but more importantly because it takes major money. Conservatives have the money collectively but lack the unity to concentrate it.
3. State Mutiny. Conservatives are strongest at the state level. By linking with the federal judiciary, states can clamp down on federal government operations. This has already occurred where federal courts have issued injunctions against federal spending for unconstitutional policies and laws.

I like the 3rd approach because the ruling oligarchs do not control the ground game at the state level. They actually fear state governments aligning with the federal judiciary.
I like your story. And as it applies to ideologies, I’m all for it as long as people are up front about it, and truly pass themselves off for who they really are.
One of my object lessions is Bill Krystol. The guy passes himself off, and the networks do too, as being a Conservative. Krystal wouldn’t know a Conservative it he read his 4000 page manifesto.
He blathers on topic and confuses more people than he enlightens, and all in the name of Conservatism. He’s a fraud. People listen to him thinking they’re hearing the Conservative party line, and they aren’t.
IMO, guys like him do as much damage to our cause as some of the worst Democrats. At least the Democrats are known for who they are, and you can know going in they’re prejudiced against the Right.

I grew up with Firing line. I watch all the talking heads try to explain why we shouldn't be upset with Islam, only Radical Islam, and it make me sick, because none of them have even bothered to study the subject, or the history.
I suspect if the four could persuade Bob Beckel to adapt some conservative positions and find a little fault with his party, there might be a chance for the Republic to survive.
I don't see that happening because Beckel has never tasted anything else, and never will.
I agree. I will say, Beckel has actually mellowed a bit over the years. Him having to shout down three or four people who disagreed with him helped muzzle him to a certain degree.
