Putins job will be more difficult if units continue to defect like the russian tank unit just did. I’ve read articles here that Putin is no longer sending in specialist units to Ukraine. Instead he is sending in regular units composed mostly of conscripts. And some of those conscripts are apparently waking up to the fact that they are cannon fodder. JMO.

I can take Kiev in two weeks, Vladimir Putin warns European leaders I'd like to see him try to hold it, and remain leader of Russia.

Taking it is one thing, holding it is another.

Dangerous times.
I gauge the following.
Russia has the largest throw-weight of thermo nuclear warheads and they are of modern design.
Israel has limited throw weigh but the most advanced designs of nuclear weapons..especially smaller battlefield neutron devices.
The US has a large throw weight but quality lags the Russian array of weapons.
MAD still applies though... no one can truly win a major nuclear exchange. The boomers are still especially deadly.

if he wanted to After invading Greece and receiving the submission of other key city-states, Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta: "If I invade Laconia you will be destroyed, never to rise again." The Spartan ephors replied with a single word: "If." Subsequently neither Philip II nor his son Alexander the Great attempted to capture the city.

So what, Vlad? Then what will you do with it? If the Red Army (redux) couldn’t take Kiev in two days, I wouldn’t brag about it.
