In case you have not noticed, opposition to gay rights and gay marriage is weakening, even in conservative Christian churches. One friend suggested that many unmarried men who are heavily involved in church activities are stereotypical good boys, who maintain long periods of avoidance of heterosexual sex, which makes them more inclined to gay feelings. Is this true? A lot of men involved in church choirs seem more feminine than average.
The grandson of the famous televangelist, Oral Roberts, recently announced he is gay: http://www.christianpost.com/news/oral-roberts-grandson-discusses-coming-out-as-a-homosexual-52483/
Sons of many famous conservative Christians are ending up gay, such as the sons of Randall Terry, Phyllis Schlafly, etc. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University has ended public opposition to gay marriage, according to this article: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/03/falwells-college-goes-quiet-on-gay-marriage.html
“What do you think of the theory that bad boys are more likely to be straight, but good boys are more likely to be gay?”
That theory is offensive to good men and it’s nonsense.
I do have several theories of my own. Here’s one regarding the fact that these evangelists have raised queer sons:
It likely has more to do with the fact that they are so focused on the salvation of others - and some in writing books or building up a monument church and/or their own egos - that their own children are ignored spiritually and emotionally.
And while being ignored by their dad, a pedophile took notice and groomed the kid while hiding in plain sight - such as a trusted council member, youth worker, etc.
But speaking on homo men in the church choir .. several years ago we did have one in our choir. But you’d never have suspected because he was the outdoorsy rugged type and he “dated” several of the young women in the church. He was raised in the church and was the son of a big family there. When he was outed, most of them left.
Not to show off my uber history knowledge but Phillip Of Macedon - a bad boy in every way - was killed by a man he raped during Phillip’s marriage banquet to his second wife who was already pregnant.
I wrote that badly. At Phillip’s marriage party, a drunk Phillip raped a paige boy/young man while Phillip’s henchmen held the victim down. This man later revenged himself by killing Phillip - probably in a plot Phillip’s first wife Olympia hatched up.
I dumped TV in 1997, a few years before that I saw two things on TV that really exposed the agenda.
The first was a sort of cop show where our heros were looking for two characters. One was a big burly black guy and the other was a small old guy (He actually played a character in an episode of the old “Lost in Space” series). So the cops are asking someone if they saw them and described them as “a big muscular guy and a small ‘gray’ looking guy”. I remember thinking, “seriously. You ignore their race? You are attempting to socially engineer me.”
The second was a cop show where a male and female cop were after this bad guy. The dialogue was so obvious that it was almost funny. The part of the male cop would have fit the dialogue better if it had been played by a woman, and the bad guy was really just a “male”. His badness was in his “male” reaction to everything. So, good guys act like women and bad guys act like men. That was the subliminal message.
Again, I was being socially engineered.
And this may explain why the church membership is accepting homosexuality: They mostly still watch TV. Those of us frogs that jumped out of the water before it came to a boil (though it was darned hot even back then) see what is going on. Our culture has been conditioned and will continue to be conditioned as long as there is broadcast television.
Same here — been married and done with it, now I’m a born again bachelor. No more arguments, no more in-laws, no more psychodrama.
I spend my life-energy looking after my parents, and that’s the most important calling I can imagine.
When the incident became widely known, Attalus, who was a courtier and exercised a good deal of influence with the king, invited Pausanias to dinner, and, filling with vast quantities of unmixed wine, handed his body over to his stablemen to abuse sexually in drunken rape. On sobering up from his intoxication, he [Pausanias] was extremely bitter about the physical abuse he had suffered and accused Attalus before the king. Philip, though incensed at the enormity of Attalus' transgression, was nevertheless unwilling to show his abhorrence because of his kinship with him and his present need of his services [3]. [...]
Accordingly, the king, wishing to appease Pausanias' justified anger at what had been done to him, conferred on him valuable gifts and promoted him to a more honorable position among the bodyguards.

They played pretty rough back then.
[ Hormones in the milk might be the problem. ]
It is not only Milk but there are many other sources of Phytoestrogens...
In any case, to answer the question - does that sound like "good boy behavior" turning people gay? Seems these guys were scary MoFos to begin with.
So ergo, case dismissed in blaming Christian values for turning people gay.
I oberved this with my two sister in laws last week. My one SIL lives nearby and is a retired teacher. She had two kids from a previous marriage before she married my husband's brother. One of her children is a 30 year old girly sort of heterosexual man. My other SIL came out to visit with her 4 grandchildren, one of whom is a hyper male 10 year old boy. (I get the biggest kick out of the kid). Any way. It was fun to watch SIL number 1 try not to lose it as SIL number 2's grandson touched everything he came in contact with, used is sleeve as a napkin, chased turkeys etc. Boy stuff.
Good Times!
Homosexual boys are more likely to be fearful
And often hut not always
Less physical
correlation is not causation
“good guys” are no more “naturally” “gay” than “bad” guys
and the number of celebrity fundamentalist Christians with a child who has “come out” gay, makes for an insignificant number of such kids to consider it a “trend” among young “good” Christian men
That and non-stop homo propaganda and recruitment.
All sorts of orientations and experimentation coming out of high schools. I coached baseball therein for 3 seasons. I was very surprised, but not shocked at some of the associations.
Though I think there’s a big problem that isn’t going to be boosting the national birthrate.
what an utter stupid question.
Welcome to FR nOOb and bruthuh Batchelor. ..
I think there’s something to it, but it’s more complex than that.
I think there’s a range of social conformity among gay people, just like among straight people. Highly conforming gay boys who are raised in conservative Christian families are likely to behave as “good boys,” and are likely to internalized the proscription on gay sex that their religion teaches. Conveniently, their religion also teaches that premarital sex is wrong. Thus, they fit in quite nicely as “good boys.” Some of them even become “good priests” for that reason.
I don’t think they’re gay because of the lack of premarital sex. I think they don’t have the premarital sex because they’re gay.
Of course, these aren’t the majority of gay people, of conservative Christians, or of priests. However, there is a salient connection when you see it.
What a stupid headline/article
I steadfastly refuse to believe that only 1.6% of boys are good.
I think it’s crap.
