He committed a burglary, injured himself while fleeing the scene of the crime, and made up the story afterward.

It’s the feel bad story of the year!

I remember when this was first posted on FR, a Freeper wrote that the story didn’t pass the smell test. I guess deep down we all hope things like this (the untrue story) happen when someone is in need.

Thanks!
Once again FR is the place to go for any clue to the rest of the story.
From LINK:
"...someone called police to report a suspicious person "shimmying" down the side of a building in downtown L.A. near the USC campus. The tipster gave a description of the suspicious person to police." "cops....spoke to a woman who lived in the building. Cops gave the woman the description."
"...woman said, "Yes, that sounds like my boyfriend Josh Shaw.""

I didn't think of it that way. I figured he pulled a Bill Clinton and fell down some steps, snockered.
Of course, he could have fell down the steps a little spiffed, after an encounter with his BF.

He reported to the team that he fell down the stairs at his house.
Comes to mind BJ Clinton's story of falling down stairs and breaking his leg.
Also, there was the pretzel incident of George W. Bush.
Sometimes, it is almost amazing what PR personnel try to get the American public to believe.

Many times, even on FR, many a messenger hath been stoned just for the appearance of heresy against an idolic personage.
Ah, yes, ignorance is bliss, for many.
