The sad truth remains that 5% of FReepers support 100% of FR. Can you imagine what it would be like if we had 10% support? These things would wrap up in days, not months.
When I joined FR ten years ago, it was not uncommon to git 'er done in 7-10 days. It was less expensive 10 years ago, but, it really shouldn't take two months.
Not everybody can donate. I get that. But, I'm certain that we have some among the 95% that are FReeploading. Harsh words, but I know it's true.
Imagine no FR. No way to get the REAL news that affects us all. No pool of talent to ferret out the real truth. No ability to call BS when we see it.
The list goes on.
We need your help. We need new donors. We need new blood.
If you've never donated, give it a whirl. If you donate once in a while, try monthly donations. It's really painless.

Oops, google “ranking.” My understanding is the more items indexed and the more hits to a site keeps its ranking higher on the ranking scale. Higher ranked sites get better treatment on searches. We receive more referrals from google than from any other source.
None of us are logged in, it is all in our minds.

I just ditched my satellite, because I, too, am in the country. I am now trying ATT’s mobile wifi. So far it’s better than the satellite, more gigs, faster, allows up to 10 computers to connect, costs slightly less than the satellite, and as it says, it’s mobile. I can take it with me.
Satellite stinks, I’ve got it at home. Would like to go the route you mentioned, but I live right in the middle of a 400 acre “dead zone” for all connectivity outside of landlines.

I’ve only had it for 2 weeks now, so I don’t know the downside yet. I’ll post it in a few months. But, at this point it looks better. I’m not limited by day to so many gigs. It’s what I purchase per month. I suppose I could use it all in a day (which would be impossible for me), but even then you can go online and buy more.
Oh, as another captive of the satellites formerly PO’d when storms (and sometimes only clouds) showed up....I was online during a big storm last week and stayed connected throughout. Two days earlier I was offline and tried to go online during a storm and could not connect. I’m guessing that in the first case it had to search for the signal and that in the second case it already had the signal. I could be wrong because I’m no airwaves guru.
FR has been my homepage since 1998. I haven’t always paid my way but for the last 10 years I have as a monthly.
I’ve never had a problem with billing or any other security problems.

You know what you do and so does everybody else. You allegedly pursue this anti-blogger stance to keep people here on FR. The OP seemed to lament the low percentage of contributors and there is a reasonable doubt whether or not your tireless efforts raise or lower that number.
I bet quite a few are sick of it but don’t feel bringing it up is worth the fuss. Either way you will keep doing whatever you want even if it drives people out and prevents new people from joining. It’s all about you.
