5% continues to support 100% of FR

The sad truth remains that 5% of FReepers support 100% of FR. Can you imagine what it would be like if we had 10% support? These things would wrap up in days, not months.
When I joined FR ten years ago, it was not uncommon to git 'er done in 7-10 days. It was less expensive 10 years ago, but, it really shouldn't take two months.
Not everybody can donate. I get that. But, I'm certain that we have some among the 95% that are FReeploading. Harsh words, but I know it's true.
Imagine no FR. No way to get the REAL news that affects us all. No pool of talent to ferret out the real truth. No ability to call BS when we see it.
The list goes on.
We need your help. We need new donors. We need new blood.
If you've never donated, give it a whirl. If you donate once in a while, try monthly donations. It's really painless.
Imagine a Freepathon that lasts days, not months.

And the posted list at #189 isn't from that link. It is a list maintained outside of the quarterly Freepathon, which is why you didn't find it there.

That is the monthly pledge list.
It is not a monthly pledge list.
Those are not people who are pledging to donate.
It is a list of FReepers who DO donate every month.
Not everyone who donates is on that list, because some
people wish to donate anonymously. If you want to be
on the list, you must ask someone on the FReepathon
team that your name be added.
Forgive me, but you are very ignorant about the lists and
what they mean. You have made really wild assumptions
about the lists and monthly donors in general. I respectfully
suggest that you stop talking and start listening to those of
us who have worked the FReepathon for years and have the
knowledge to wipe away the cobwebs with which you have
filled your brain about the donation process.

Their point was obvious since they asked no other team member "Do you donate?". This particular poster and I have had words before and are not FRiends.
This debate has taken the focus off of the FReepathon and does damage to FR. It's time they stop.

As you know, I constantly worry you are not getting enough Chinese takeout. My circumstances have changed to the point I can send $20 per month for Chinese takeout instead of the monthly amount I am giving now. That assures you Chinese every month. :o)
I'll see how to increase the monthly amount and post to you on the Freepathon thread.

I did suggest that he/she pipe down and listen, but when you’re
dealing with a know-it-all, you don’t get much cooperation.
Started to get a little hot under the collar myself. How annoying
can one ignoramus be? Poor Darks!
We tried...

Hi Jim,
My donations are smaller now because I got laid off two years ago (thanks to the Kenyan), and couldn’t find a job due to my age. However, I do still donate every quarter and have now started a family research business. Once I start making a profit, I promise my donations will go up.
Kinda depressing that so few people donate; I’d have thought the percentage was larger.

I hate ads. Go to Breitbart or Blaze and see what ads do. It’s awful.
Also, a volunteer site rather than a business site has different rules regarding copy right and other legal issues.
See JR’s post at #133 on this thread.
These are the top 10 conservative sites on the web. You’ll notice that Free Republic is #7. Just looking at that list, what do your think their websites cost? I’m betting they are millions of dollars more than $85,000 a quarter.
1) Fox News: 260
2) Wall Street Journal: 383
3) The Drudge Report: 748
4) New York Post: 888
5) WorldNetDaily: 2,692
6) Newsmax: 3,264
7) Free Republic: 3,988
8) The Washington Times: 4,717
9) TownHall: 5,986
10) The Rush Limbaugh Show: 7,624

I can only respond with what is stated on the donor's list, the scoreboard, and the daily progress bar that says, Receipts & Pledges to-date: $75,729. Th scoreboard states:
Q-t-D Receipts $63,503.11 (includes monthlies to-date)
Monthlies $11,334.00 (pledged, not actual receipts)

We are of kindred minds on this subject. I don’t have a bad, outdated, or backwoods system, but some sites we get linked to are so FULL of ads, pop-ups, auto videos, etc., that they just lock my system in super slow mode. I used to be patient. Now I just close them out and go back to good ole Free Republic where I can discuss conservatism unhindered by intrusions.

I have a stupid question. I thought that I was a monthly donor, how do I check that? Also, is monthly donations just for the calender year?

The best thing to do is check with Jim or look on your bank statement.
The other thing that happens is when your bank card expires you have to renew as a monthly as it doesn't switch automatically.

The monthly donation continues until you contact Jim to modify or cancel it.
