GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- Israel and Hamas agreed Tuesday to an open-ended cease-fire, halting a seven-week war that killed more than 2,200 people, the vast majority Palestinians, left tens of thousands in Gaza homeless and devastated entire neighborhoods in the blockaded territory.
Hamas declared victory and bursts of celebratory gunfire erupted across Gaza, but the terms of the deal fell far short of Hamas' demand that Israel and Egypt open Gaza's borders.
Under the Egyptian-brokered deal, Israel is to ease imports into Gaza, including aid and material for reconstruction. It also allows Palestinians to fish six nautical miles offshore, up from three nautical miles.

I hope we have unscheduled elections soon, due to cabinet disintegration.
Predictions on how long until Hamas breaks the cease fire....
4 hours.
Hamas goes through more leaders than Obama goes through Golf balls
I support Israel, but this happens over, and over, and over; has been for decades now. Hamas is re-tooling because they got their ass handed to them and are on their heels.
Israel needs to crush Hamas because as this cycle happens over and over all I see is Israel perpetuating something they have in their means to stop in its track. No muzzie will ever accept Israel or any Jew. The answer is for Israel to rid her lands of muzzies quickly and now; kind of like what WE need to do here in the States.
They will break it not later than the Jewish Sabbath, I think.
Soon as Iran can send them missiles with satellite guidance. Bibi is a disgrace for agreeing to this.
All Hamas wants is the opportunity or re-group, get new weapons and possibly more fighters from other terrorists groups such as ISIS. Israel should have finished them off. The price in lives may be much higher the next time fighting breaks out.
“may”?
One can only hope that Israel has agreed to this as
a way of showing once and for all that Hamas is NOT
to be trusted. I can’t conceive of what Obama might
have used to get them to do this.
Agreeing to construction supplies and doubling the fishing zone will come back as more attacks and deaths.

We should start a pool. Put me down for Thursday.
Sounds like Hamas needs to re-arm.
Most likely, he didn’t need to use much. Bibi did not want to do a full-blown ground invasion, with the attendant dead and maimed soldiers, UN reports with the conclusions already written in advance, and with repeatedly subduing an overly-urbanized shit-pile full of crazed muzzies for the booby prize. I can understand that. But I can also understand that there are better missiles out there, with guidance systems, as well as shoulder-held SAMS, and such militarily important materials as cement, copper and lead, all of which can be called “building materials”. And a ground invasion with the complete annihilation of Hamas would have been infinitely better, and may yet happen after this Hudna implodes.
Israel seems about as concerned as we are of this business.
Netanyahu is like a flag.
Is this number 12? I’ve lost count.
I was going to take Thursday. Oh well, I’ll have Friday, just before Sabbath commences.
I am thinking that Netanyahu is quite sure a rocket or two will come their way soon, which gives him the green light to start cleaning the border with Lebanon up a little.
I have to agree with you. Where are the real leaders who aren’t so busy worrying about pc? I don’t believe they exist anymore and pc is absolutely idiotic.
And deadly.
Too scared of being labelled a Hitler, Stalin, Zionist, Mao, racist, islamaphobe, homophobe. Or whatever the liberal defense is for the week.
Israel wants to live peacefully with the arabs, the Jews aren’t going to resort to what Hamas and “palestinians(lol, never existed)” want to do to Israel. Taking the higher road, is admirable. But I believe it is a mistake. A dire mistake.
When Israel kicked the shit out of most of the arab world outnumbered 3:1 in the six day war it could have been ended then and there.
