Burger King says it struck a deal to buy Tim Hortons Inc. for about $11 billion, a move that creates the worlds third-largest fast-food company and could accelerate the international expansion of the Canadian coffee and doughnut chain.
The corporate headquarters of the new company will be in Canada. The two brands will continue to be run as stand-alone chains, with Burger King still operating out of Miami.
Some analysts have suggested that Canadas lower tax rates stand to benefit Burger King over time. But Burger King said thats the not main motivation for the deal.
[snip]
Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, is calling for a boycott of Burger King.... Brown called for a creation of a global minimum tax rate.
We need an immediate fix to forestall a flood of these dangerous inversions and a long term solution that lowers corporate tax rates while instituting a country-by-country global minimum tax, Brown added.
Who does that last paragraph remind you of? Wesley Mouch perhaps?
He also compares "White Castle sliders" (his words) with Burger King. How nutty is that?
Scumbag.
What an absolute idiot.
Any senator with half a brain cell might say something like let’s make our corporate income tax rate competitive with the rest of the world.
Ideally, it would be best to abolish it all together.
i eat at wendy’s before i would bk, because i prefer it over the other two big fast food places.
i’d also want to try tim hortons if they ever open one in virginia.
I have a suggestion for this guy’s next meal.....
Perfectly legal and sensible choice.
BK is accountable to shareholders.
They are saving 14% of their profits by making a great choice.
The US will only wake up when it feels the pain of capital outflows.
One may ask just how much this little ‘endorsement’ may have cost Wendys?
I am glad to see that the ‘Lawmakers?’ are working on the ‘hard stuff’.
Next thing some fools will get mad at the French and rename fries.
And they wonder why some folks pay absolutely no attention to these slugs, too bad they don’t carry their animosity to the voting booth.
Wasn't he advocating for a new min tax for top wage earners recently?
.
- Sen Brown is a Muslim/Communist
- no secret
Thats really good satire. I made it to the part where Brown called for a global minimum tax rate ...
Wait, what do you mean that WASN’T satire????
Oh well. I prefer Wendy’s over Burger King too. But I see a lot of Whoppers in my future. Of course this will probably help BK recover market share from the whole Rainbow Pride Whopper campaign ...
Dem sleazebag Sherrod Brown can put a sock in it.
How about leading an effort that would make American businesses want to stay here? That concept is beyond a democrat’s intellectual grasp.
Libs are amazing. Rather than look at the reasons for tax inversions and how to prevent them (i.e. cut the tax rate), they just double down on their losing ideas.
.
-”Global Mimimum Tax Rate” - Muslim Democrat Senator has da answer . . .
- well somebody has to pay for Beery Husseina Ebola Junior’s $100,000,000.00 Afreakin Vacas
Imagine the horror of being Sherrod Brown.
$28.85 million on lobbying[42] and not paying any taxes during 2008-2010, instead getting $545 million in tax rebates, despite making a profit of $5.9 billion, laying off 2,600 workers since 2008, and increasing executive pay by 30% to $23.7 million in 2010 for its top five executives
Just like Wesley Mouch and friends.
Bump to your idea.
Have some TIM HORTONS in NYC hear Penn Station
Like their soap/sandwich for lunch when I am in NYC doing
a job......
Wendy’s is headquartered in Columbus and likely shovels lots of campaign cash his way.
Particularly since Dave Thomas died, the company went bankrupt, and was acquired by the former Arby’s, a company well known for donating to Democrats.
You could always eat at Chick-fil-a....
