LOS ANGELES (AP) Mexico's president spoke of the need for U.S. immigration reform on a two-day visit to immigrant-friendly California, saying those who reject diversity and inclusion will ultimately be proven wrong.
"We want to be a factor of cohesion, not division, with full respect for the sovereignty of the United States," President Enrique Pena Nieto said Monday. "This, at the end, is about and only about a matter of justice for those who contribute so much to the development of the American society."
Pena Nieto was welcomed by Gov. Jerry Brown, who played up his immigration credentials in a speech that highlighted the close cultural and historical ties they share across borders.
"It wasn't very long ago that the governor of California was outlawing driver's licenses for people who were undocumented from Mexico," Brown said. "That's not the law anymore."
Brown signed a bill into law last year that will enable immigrants to get driver's licenses next year. He said he got the message after a visit to a Monterey artichoke field where the workers yelled "licencia, licencia."
During an upbeat speech embracing the ties between Mexico and California, Brown didn't entirely gloss over a relationship that has, at times, been fraught with tension and he referred to past ethnic problems.

Having said that, I don't fault Mr. Nieto for doing this. He's just representing Mexico's interests, as Mexico's president should do. His country has a huge surplus underclass population that it can't support, so he needs someplace to use as a dumping ground for them. All understandable. What isn't understandable is why so many American politicians are willing to help him attain these goals.
You first, México. Show us how it is done.
I think we should adopt Mexico’s immigration laws. What could be fairer than that?
Mexico can’t wait to get some territory back...
You'd think that if Nieto really believed that illegals do such great things for US society, he'd be doing everything in his power to keep them in Mexico.
"This, at the end, is about and only about a matter of justice for those who contribute so much to the development UNEMPLOYMENT of the American society WORKER."
There. Fixed it.
I think we should reform our immigration laws to look like Mexico’s and then we should enforce them as harshly as Mexico does
The US should send a bill to Mexico for all those children that have funneled through the border.
*Mexico cant wait to get some territory back...*
They’re lucky that we gave them back the part that is still called Mexico.
We won the whole thing fair and square as spoils or a war that THEY STARTED.
By all rights the entirety of Mexico should belong to the USA. We should strip it of its natural resources and send all the illegals back there.
Why in the hell isn't he focused about them contributing to the development of the Mexican society ?????????????
We should be taxing remittances sent down south for one thing.
*I think we should adopt Mexicos immigration laws. What could be fairer than that?*
I totally agree with that!
*The US should send a bill to Mexico for all those children that have funneled through the border.*
Payable in gold. They need to repay us for the territory that we gave back to them after the Mexican -American War, also in gold. Maybe any illegals we catch could pay some of it back with free labor for 20 years before we send them back.
They come here to work, right?....
Will Mexico’s president run for US President ?
"I don't want these people in Mexico, they're a drain on our society. But trust me, they'll do wonders for yours...really!"
Apparently the reporter neglected to get an accurate translation... What he actually said was: ‘Our socialistic ideals and policies have turned our nation into a hell hole. Rather than address our failings and fix the problem, we are exporting the only useful people we have left to your country. Alas, our criminal element is following their prey and also came as well. Please protect the useful ones as they generate billions for my citizens and prop up many failed areas.
Viva Mexico!’
and we don't need their butts here. Fix your country and take them back, pendejo.
America doesn't want this reform. If Obama and DC tries to pull a fast one it'd better be the final straw or we're screwed for good.
Not to worry, the courageous Republicans in the House and Senate will valiantly fight tooth and nail to oppose amnesty, as will their field of 2016 Presidential candidates[/sarc]
I do.
To hell with him. I have zero sympathy for the pathetic state of his pathetic country, nor do I have any ambition whatsoever to improve the lot of his pathetic people by allowing them to come here and suck off the teat of the USA taxpayer.
Here's a thought Mr. Messican President...take your ass and the asses of all the other messicans and their asses and go back to mesico and leave us alone.
Now I'm a racist.
Oh, well...
That diversity thing is over-rated, anyway.
