The Wall Street executives go free. The war crimes in the Middle East, especially now in Gaza, the war criminals go free. And yet, you know, he acted as if he was both a progressive and as if he was concerned about the issues of serious injustice and inequality and it turned out that he’s just another neoliberal centrist with a smile and with a nice rhetorical flair. And that’s a very sad moment in the history of the nation because we are—we’re an empire in decline. Our culture is in increasing decay. Our school systems are in deep trouble. Our political system is dysfunctional. Our leaders are more and more bought off with legalized bribery and normalized corruption in Congress and too much of our civil life. They are proposing a total hell on Earth but in their pointy heads they may actually believe that the Earth would be a heaven if only Obama were MORE progressive. He has actually been called a conservative by some of them which is like saying that the late great Mickey Rooney was a giant because he was so much taller than Herve Villechaize.
Obama governs as his international bankster masters demand - just like his predecessor. That's the Faustian bargain any candidate must make to obtain the office in the first place. The candidate understands he may have a bit of leeway to make changes in certain areas important to him, personally - but there are lines he dares not cross.
Obama may be a nasty, Islamist-sympathizing, neo-Communist thug with a visceral hatred for the white middle class - but the banksters do not care about what petty domestic actions he takes to warp the social fabric of America - only that he keeps his hands off of finance and uses the military as they direct him to.

It's worth noting that this crowd doesn't use Clintonian Triangulation the way you'd expect.
For instance, Axelrod came out and said that the Texas indictment of Gov. Perry re: the drunk DA was wrong. In Clinton-land, you'd expect Axelrod to come out a few days later and say, 'well, I've looked at it closer and I think the indictment is justified'. That's how they push-pull opinion on the left; someone makes it ok to have an opinion and they all follow. But that's not what's happening here.
The old saying is that you never ascribe malice to that which can be explained by incompetence. I wonder if the left is coming to believe that they've got a dangerous incompetent narcissist on their hands? Will they remove him procedurally before he ruins the party for a decade or more?

No they do not. Obama himself said he wanted to raise taxes even if revenues declined, for the "fairness" of it all.
We'll have to wait and see how things shake out, but I think they're a lot like surfers and the weather and water have changed a bit.
There are lots of styles and skill levels on display, but I like to watch how the experienced surfers change with the conditions.
A good surfer knows how to put him/herself in position to catch a swell and, depending how it develops, maybe ride it to shore or wait for the next one.
