......Sam is far from a lock to start the season as one of the 53 names on the Rams active roster. His attempt to survive cut-down day is further complicated by the Rams talent-rich corps of defensive linemen, led by Robert Quinn and Chris Long. But while he may fall short of securing a roster spot when rosters are trimmed for the final time Aug. 30, from a certain perspective, Sam may have already succeeded. By turning a media frenzy into business-as-usual, by fixing the preseason narrative solely on Michael Sam the football player, both Sam and the Rams have already earned an important victory for sporting social rights.

See there, folks? It really wasn't about being a football player, after all. It was about "sporting social rights".
You know, like how outspoken Christ followers are appreciated and embraced in the society of professional sports.
Oh, wait....
What’s sad is that he could probably make the Cowboys squad and with the dearth of defensive talent on the Cowboys, there will be pressure on Jerry Jones to pick up Sam if the Rams cut him.
Wasted draft child choice. Does not have tools to play in NFL. Never did. Great college player but that is where it ended.
St. Louis was one of the cities being considered for the 2016 Gay Games. Just after the Rams selected him, St. Louis was awarded to be the host city. IIRC.
It was also about the Rams wanting to move out of St. Louis perhaps back to LA.
The NFL may have told them, if they wanted approval for such a move, they’d better draft him.
They know he doesn’t belong there. They know the only reason he’s there is because if he hadn’t been drafted the homos would have rioted.
Well, 7th round is ... well not much of a draft choice. In my mind it is more of a “Here is your shot kid, show me you can play.”
But.....but.......he got a sack in his last game.
What is a gay riot? I think instead of going into stores and looting them they merely redecorate them.
Its the markers that mean everything, it's the approved script for all the mushhead media puppets to repeat and repeat until they've convinced themselves that their perception is the reality.
Bad news boys, no one outside your little echo chamber is buying this bullsh!t anymore.
Sporting social rights. Alas for the decline and fall of the English language.
Looks to me like the media metrosexuals got wind that Sam is finished; he can’t cut the mustard. And the word is out not to DARE criticize the Rams’ organization for it.
This is just to be ahead of the curve and spin it as a victory nonetheless.
Narcissists generally don’t want to put forth the effort it requires for professional-level sports. They’re perfect already.
I find it funny now that the rumors are that Donald Sterling is gay.
So basically the NBA just got rid of its’ first gay owner.
He gets credited in the article for quieting the media storm... that he created in the first place.
The NFL doesn’t want anybody going back to LA. The lack of a team there has built too many stadiums, and will continue. He was a late 7th round draft picks, most of them are “let’s see what happens” and get cut.
Sterling’s problem was that he was talking like a basketball player.
Pro football is a blood sport. Literally.
Blood is flying around during the game and if a player with a typical cut contracted AIDs-infected blood from a known homosexual deviant during a game, all hell would break loose.
Sam is a wrongful death suit waiting to happen that would financially cripple a team or the NFL itself.
