An officer who was working at the Ferguson protests was caught on camera pointing a semi-automatic weapon at a peaceful demonstrator and saying "I will f****ng kill you." Yesterday, it was announced the police officer was suspended indefinitely.
The incident just before midnight on Tuesday punctuated the 11th straight night of racially charged demonstrations in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri, since Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old, was slain by a white police officer.
No one was hurt in the gun-pointing confrontation, but the incident underscored what many have criticized as heavy-handed and unprofessional police tactics that have helped stoke continuing civil unrest.
According to an official account from the St. Louis County Police Department, an unnamed policeman from the neighboring community of St. Ann leveled his weapon at a Ferguson protester "after a verbal exchange," and that a superior county officer, a sergeant, quickly intervened.
According to a statement from the county police department, the sergeant "immediately took action, forcing the officer to lower the weapon and escorting him away from the area."
At one point, he is heard yelling, "I will f****ng kill you, get back, get back," before the sergeant calmly steps in to defuse the situation, orders him to lower the weapon and leads him away from cameras.
"The unified command strongly feel these actions are inappropriate, and not indicative of the officers who have worked daily to keep the peace," the police statement said.
It said the officer in question had been relieved of duty and suspended indefinitely but gave no further details of any investigation or discipline he might face.

Unfortunately for Officer Wilson, that video is going to be used to bolster claims of a "pattern of behavior" or "mentality" of the whole Ferguson Police Department.
The officer in this case did his fellow officers a HUGE disservice.
I tend to agree with all your sentiments and feel sorry for this cop being placed in this situation in a town that was not even his. On top of all that, it was a very dangerous situation aggravated by outsiders and national media. So, what he was placed in the middle of was not his fault.
All that said , we do ask a lot of our cops and one is that you cannot committ a crime! It is a crime to point a gun at another person and say “I will fucking kill you”. This guy will be lucky if losing his job is all that happens to him because he crossed the “legal” line.
First of all, I’m not a BIG TALKER. All I said is that the cop should have kept his cool. Especially if he knew he was being recorded.
And BTW — I’ve had people tell me to go F*** myself before, or nearly so, and I’ve always been able to handle it in an appropriate manner.

The PERP in this situation did not get shot. If it were you standing there, being harrassed and cussed at, called a "M****F***N PIG, called a BABY KILLER, it was 86 degrees with 90% humidity and you had on bulletproof vest, police clothes, and were carrying 40 pounds of equipment, and the thugs were throwing water bottles with urine in them , and this THUG pulled a knife and threatened you.... we know what would have happened.

There are many young ‘thugs’ in Ferguson right now who would would love nothing more than to be shot and be a martyr to ‘the cause’.
They don’t want to ‘protest’. They want to ‘push’ the LE until someone reacts.
I hear the Black Panthers and DOJ have offered to pay their funeral expenses and provide college tuition funds to their ‘families’ (other gang members) should they be successful.

Looks to me like a lot of those ‘paid protesters’ the various ‘race’ groups have hired to get on websites and make posts supporting the rioters and attacking the police, have been let loose on FR.

If YOU were with a crowd of thugs yelling “KILL A COP, KILL A COP” (which they were), and the thugs were throwing urine on the cops, and you stepped out with a KNIFE in your hands and advanced towards the cops, they told you to “put it down” and you refused, what would have happened ?
What exactly did he do ?
He didn't slug the protester in the face and fracture his skull.
He didn't shoot the thug who wouldn't put down the knife.
How long had the cop been there putting up with all this ? You talk like this happened 'out of the blue' with nothing else going on.
How many LE's were in Ferguson ? How many 'thugs' got shot during the protests/rioting/looting/rape/murder/cell phone thefts ?
And the THUG holding the KNIFE and refusing to put it down was NOT a THREAT to the officer he was moving towards ?
