I have never eaten a Twinkie. Am I alone in this? We were a Little Debbie family growing up, so I was well into adulthood before having that "honor."

Your parents must have really hated you, not to buy you any Twinkies!

The name alone is a turn off. Sounds like a euphemism. Aren’t they pinkish with white stuff inside?

As I recall, Hostess closed down a few years back because operational costs and demands of the union made continuation of business impossible. There was I believe a bankruptcy
The Hostess brand and all the products were acquired from the bankruptcy court. I assume this plant was reopened but being in Chicago was still union and still failed.
Back to the topic of your post....... when I learned that Hostess was going out of business, I bought a package of Twinkies because I, like you, had never indulged. I paid for the experience but not for something worth eating

Shooting in Ferguson, bad.
Execution in Iraq, worse.
But this... Oh, the humanity.

Oh, this poor, deprived, younger generation. To not ever know the two thousand calorie a bite, tooth-cavity inducing ecstasy of the Hostess Twinkie! The tragedy!

I saw a display rack full of Twinkies in Walmart last month, which surprised me enough to buy a package.
Unfortunately, my childhood memories of Twinkies are better than the 2014 version.
I guess some memories don't need to be updated and are best left alone.

Unfortunately, my childhood memories of Twinkies are better than the 2014 version. Same goes for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They don't taste nearly as good now as they did thirty years ago.

Real twinkles back in the day had cane sugar. Newer version of twinkles (and most of the junk food we remember well) have been using high fructose corn syrup for decades now. There is a huge difference in flavor. The HFC almost seems to suppress flavor.
