Seems the Wolf of Wall Street has a few economic ideas for halting climate change. In a new documentary called Carbon, released online Wednesday, narrator Leonardo DiCaprio contends that trillions of dollars worth of fossil fuels are awaiting commercial extraction from the ground and that if we burn them, our planet is toast.
Clocking in at under nine minutes, the short doesn't mince words: DiCaprio and climate scientists argue that coal, natural gas and other carbon-based forms of energy are a "monster" that has created catastrophic surges in the earths surface temperature. In response, some lawmakers around the world are tinkering with ways to make carbon more expensive, and sustainable forms of energy such as wind power cheap.

I wish there was a place to quantify the amount of energy consumed in the production of a Hollywood film. From transporting personnel and equipment by truck and plane, to on-site construction and maintenance of small cities/sets/stages, to lighting and sound management, to post-production with computer equipment in large offices - for months, to impressing onto film and then distributing the final copies across the world, I dare say Hollywood is a massive waster of scarce, expensive energy.
It is a continuing cycle. The process hasn’t stopped.
The rate is slow and the duration is long, but oil, gas and coal are all renewable fuel.
Just consider it it a natural battery for solar power.
He’s actually quite talented. Politics isn’t one of his talents though.
Honestly, I thought DiCaprio was cute a few years ago. Now he’s just an ugly communist.
Has anybody told him that we and everything living on this planet is a carbon-based life form?...................Without it we would not exist, no plants, animals, microbes or Hollywood movie stars.................
Found him to be just another pretty boy actor. All look alike and have no individuality.
He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon....Two Coats!
I remember a movie with a carbon monster, pretty cool.. I think al gore should do a cameo in a remake
We’re doomed,, if we don’t find more dilithium crystals, we’re hosed.
I’d like to know that also. I think I’ll try one of those info websites.
That statement is based on as much science as those made by the Global Warming Chicken Littles. Actually your guess is probably based on more real data than the Global Warming claims.
He flew fighters, the spruce goose, and lots more too,, must have a callouse on his butt from all those hours in a studio seat.. And smooches he got for all his touuuuching roles
BTW , I wished I could have flown clipper service a time for two, in the front seat., ;-)
“We’re doomed,, if we don’t find more dilithium crystals, we’re hosed’’<, “I’m a doctor Jim , not a miner!’’.
Once you’ve gone amphib, you’ll never want to go home..
What a tool. Useful idiot #1.
He never played star trek,,hmmmm?
Such talent gone to waste.
When this movie came out it solidified the observation people are idiots and the public education system (and parents) is horrible.
I knew people that got angry when you told them “the ship sinks” and they say “hey, I haven’t seen it yet”.
I just shook my head.
