Hi, Ma:
I retired from Civil Service back in 2009 at age 55. And left Inactive Reserve from Air Force in late June at age 60. Completely severed from service and receiving two retirement checks now.
Have also sold the homestead. Pulled up stakes and moved from suburban Maryland to enjoy apartment life not far from 395 and 495 in Falls Church, VA early this month. Settling in and am confident the furry kids will adapt easily in staying fed and keeping their own pieces of turf.
Looking forward to not bundling up and shoveling snow in the winter. Or cutting the 3/4 acre front and back yards.
Hope all is well with you.
Jack.

We haven’t had any hot days since June. It’s been a fall-like summer. Give Bo a hug for me.

Probably a couple of reasons. The fort is in South Carolina and Andrew Jackson claimed Waxhaws SC as his birthplace. As a major general he crafted the destruction of a British army at the Battle of New Orleans, the final major battle of the War of 1812.

to enjoy apartment life Hiya Jack ((HUGS))
That's what I want to do next time we move...do the apartment thing instead of owning; done that long enough!
(but NOT in northern VA LOL)

Guess that’s a good enough reason.
Did anyone ever name a place for Stonewall?
We named one of our dogs Jackson (in honor). LOL

The greatest misfortune for the Army of the West was the death of Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston at Shiloh. He was widely regarded as Robert E Lee’s equal in skill and had he lived the war in the West would have been much different.

Both Albert Sidney Johnston and Robert E Lee had commanded the 2nd United States Cavalry along the Texas frontier prior to the Civil War. They battled the Commanche and Apache, fierce Indians who had ruled Texas when Mexico claimed the territory.

We’re in the thick of it; trying to figure out how much we need to spend between now and mid-March. Our contract was extended for 6 months and the gub’mint wants new spend plans. I’m sure we’ll be negotiating for weeks...
