we have some people here on FR who do not like the militarization of the police. It’s necessary.

Michael Brown was killed by a 75mm shell from an M4, right?

Remember, liberals say they will do things, but after time, nothing gets done, but they get credit because they said it.

Exactly. Obamao had no problem with it in Boston (racist town full of pastey white Irish), but it’s an issue in Ferguson to quell an active RIOT.

If this black cloud has a silver lining, so be it.

Demilitarize the police even if it's for the "wrong" reasons.

How about the BLM and other government agencies? Remember the Bundy Ranch standoff.

Obamaumao has no problem with a NATIONAL police force having all the capabilities of the US military. That he has no problem about because.... he would command it. Just cant have local/state police with mil surplus.

This is his plans for a new federal state police— which was know in nazi germany as the geheim staats polizei.... the GESTAPO.

Lovely liberal socialist totatlitarian argument. The state police and county and city in our states KNOW who the bad actors are.

So in Ferguson the dem guv brings in state police (headed by a local black trooper) AND allows the coordination with Malik Shabazz of the Black Panthers (no the new black panthers) on site at the CP.

Does anyone here not understand what is happening under holder et al -— a national polizei with absolute illegal power?

This is testing of the system for a national police state.. under the guise of “legalities” of race policy.

Imagine a country run by such socialists. Note the racial part of the design. Think in this instance— black supremacists socialists.

Even as this all distracts from the illegal aliens being allowed to be placed in the US contravening federal law. This is the “watch the birdie” event for August.

Its most effective to stop militarization of police at the local level.

To understand why the Founders wrote a declaration of independence is to know that the British “standing army” was the de facto police force of the day. There is very little difference between a redcoat patrolling Boston under arms than a policeman walking the beat- if you do some basic literature research, you’ll find that there was no equivalent PD in the time of the revolution ( ref Sir Peale), only an elected or appointed sheriff and a constable maybe, regular citizens were sworn out by the elected officials to apprehend arrest etc for a specific purpose and time. Our modern cop/ policeman patrolman and related organization is NOT what was extant during the framer’s period.

Our extravagant police forces are perhaps the standing army our founders warned about.

The 2A is clearly the authority to protect ourselves, our homes, our towns states and nation, being the crux of the concept of a “free state”.

Regards;

The police don’t need to be militarized. Policemen in desert/forest cammos are a joke in an urban environment. Leave to SWAT those situations that call for armor and special weapons. If a community is confronted by a riot or mob, as in Ferguson, then have the governor call out a real military force: the national guard. We don’t need a national police force.

This is such a red herring. I’m definitely not in favor of militarizing the police, but what exactly does this have to do with what happened in Ferguson?

Along with the weapons, military costumes, shaved heads, steroids and tacticool gear comes a mindset of war. In many cases war without anywhere nearly as strict rules of engagement that our real troops had to work under. When cops unload 40 or more rounds into a suspect for a minor offence, that would get them charged with war crimes on a battlefield. I’m not talking about Ferguson but in general. It’s changed. It’s an “us against them” mentality and guess what, we’re “them.”
